Anyone know where the new kipa is opening in fethiye,i know it opens on the 1st of June .
-
It's on the Gunlukbasi - Fethiye road just behind the BP petrol station.
-
Thanks for that Phil ,can you reply a bit quicker next time though Ha Ha
-
kipa is very good for fethiye,it will be the cheapest shop in fethiye
-
Taken today at miday, great looking store, very, very, busy worse than Tesco at Christmas:D
(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z7/philsrose/kipa3.jpg)
-
Popped in around midday, absolutely heaving. Fruit and veg looked fairly priced but too busy to have a good look around. Didn't see one tin of Tesco baked beans :D
Smaller than Migros (or perhaps to crowded to see) Must admit was rather disappointed by the whole thing but we'll see.
-
Have to agree with philrose, it was busier than Tesco at Christmas. Think I'll go back when it's quieter! ;) Didn't really think the prices were much different from Migros etc., reckon BIM is still better value. However they do sell Florence and Fred and Cherokee clothing so dead chuffed about that:D
-
We spent nearly 300TL in there today. We think it is great. We bought 5 Tesco T shirts. an iron. Kettle. cool box.Cushions etc.etc etc. They have lots of opening offers on. 30 eggs are 3.95TL Efes 8 efes 17.90TL same price as Tespo. Not as cheap as Bim but a good selection of things. We will be going back. We like it.
-
efes 2.35 a bottle ....lol
-
same price as carrefour today.lol
-
That's nearly as cheap as Tesco sell Efes for in the UK!
-
Anyone hearing a fracas in car park today will have witnessed a Turk objecting to me reversing into a parking bay. He was very aggressive, so I saw red and reversed at him.......
-
Did you hit his car then? ;)
-
LOL, no. Car park crowded, one person gave up getting into the space front ways, so I decided to reverse in. I stopped to reverse and this chap stopped behind me and began hooting. So I pointed at the space and he began hooting and waving that I should go on, I pointed again and he went nuts. SO I slowly reversed, forcing him to get out of my way. I so wished I was driving a Sherman tank though!
Incidentally, when we exited the supermarket, someone had parked by me, occupying two spaces with the white line smack bang under their car.
-
Seems a little less busy at Kipa now, you women seem to be finding a space

16.00 - I went, I saw but I didn't conquer anything!! Kipa was uninspiring, nothing new - in fact there was LESS of the "nothing new" than any other store. Pricewise the same as Migros, Tansas and Carrefoure. Dull to the extreme in my opinion - but good for those who get through two large tins of cooking oil a week. The only good thing about it, the building looks impressive but don't be fooled, they even measured the car parking bays with Mini's in mind. If you want your car to have that all over "dent" look it's the place to go. They were giving a 10tl voucher if you spent 50tl. I was hardpressed to spend 50 kurus - Migros needn't worry about a drop in profit because of it's arrival.
Looks like Fethiye is the poor relation - yet again.
-
8 x 500cc cans of Efes 17.90!!!!!
-
Not overly impressed, but, it is very handy for me, so will go again and again.
-
Still chaotic at 8pm - cars stopped from going in until one came out but I was waved in on my moped!! :)
Not really cheap at all (only the specials).
It is 5 minutes from us but I will remain a loyal BIM & A101 happy shopper!!! :D

Was there this afternoon. Not impressed, like everyone else. Selling same stuff as Tansas, Migros and Carrefor, beer on special offer but for how long? Prices much the same as the other three. We will still go there though as it is on our side of the town and therefor is the closest if we only want groceries.
It was interesting watching the Turkish men looking bemused at the 23Tl Tesco power drill, listening to items being broken due to the volume of people in there (witnessed one poor guy nearly demolishing a display of glass bottled drinks) and the confusing exit signs. One sign had you going out through the garage, which caused a mini traffic jam, and one exit sign had you going out around the back of the store, which was clear and I took this one.
We went past the store at 09.30 this morning, true to form they were still finishing the road junction. Plus there were a lot of ex-pats sitting on the walls waiting for the store to open.
Should be worth a visit over the next few days for the entertainment value alone.
-
I'm getting the impression people were expecting Boddingtons, Jaffa cakes and Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings :D
-
Don't forget the bacon, pork sausages, pork pies and strongbow cider:D
I would have settled for the cider, ANY cider:-\
-
Anyone tried the Mezzes off the chiller counter?? Like, anyone tried them today and not well now???????
-
We went back yesterday evening and it was still heaving but not quite as bad as earlier in the day. We just think it's great they have the clothing range as we struggle to find clothes we like in Fethiye! Had hoped that they might sell a larger selection of spices and herbs...maybe one day!
-
TBH it was too crowded to get a good idea of what it was really like. We will go back. Some prices were cheaper. Anyway, it will settle down and then we will see how good it really is.
-
This is what Tesco think and to be fair they don't get it wrong that often - from their 2009/10 accounts:
In Turkey, whilst we slowed our rate of new store growth, it remained strong enough to offset the like-for-like sales decline, helping us to grow overall sales during the year. With the economy showing early signs of recovery we are planning to resume a faster rate of expansion this year. Turkey remains an important strategic long-term opportunity for us as a large, growing and relatively underdeveloped retail market.
-
I'd like to know what people were expecting to see???? :o
I for one, after living here for 12 years, was impressed! I even got excited after walking in the entrance and the fruit and veg section looked like a supermarket in the UK.
I thought that the prices of the majority of items were cheaper than the likes of Migros, Tansas and carrefour. I know where I will be shopping from now on.
-
I don't know either Nikkie. I remember how disappointed we both were when we realised Carrefour had opened and didn't sell champagne, snails or even frogs legs :D
-
We and friends were silly enough to go on opening day...phew...met the English top man who lives in Izmir and oversees all of the Turkish Kipa shops...asked questions like, why isnt there more Tesco products and named a few...his reply was, customs wont let Tescos import them...so there you go straight from the top. I will say that after that experience we will never go to another new store opening anywhere we will wait awhile.
-
They sell Jacobs Creek Merlot - unfortunately it's 62 lira a bottle!!!
-
We went along to the new store today and have to say we were really impressed with it. Some prices cheaper than Migros but some things more expensive, I think on balance for a shop it would work out much and such the same. Nice range of products tho! Even managed to get some capri sun, it's funny the things you miss living here!
Does anybody know if they are going to have a customer loyalty card? We asked today but were told no, wasn't sure if they had had and with being so busy had run out or was permanently no!
Anyway, nice shop!
Denise
-
Neesie they are going to have a loyalty card scheme apparently they will introduce it in about 3 weeks time we were told.
-
We've been back a couple of times now simply to buy clothes!! We did check out food prices and still reckon Kipa is not any cheaper than Migros etc. However the clothing range is very good. We also got some really funky crockery.
-
Has it quietened down yet.....could not hack Opening Day..did not buy a thing! :)
-
Thanks for the update re the loyalty card, we'll ask again at the end of the month!
I do like to think we're getting bargains!
Denise
xx
-
Did sonemone buy the whole clothing range, cos when I went there on Thurs only had 5 ladies t-shirts, one pair of shorts and some swimwear. Well disappointed, expected a lot more of Ted and Florence range
-
All I can say is on opening day the Gold Blend Coffee was 3Tl cheaper than the cheapest price we have seen elsewhere (sachet) and the Antrikot was 28Tl instead of 31 at Tansas. We also compared the price of the Pinar Sliced cheese (the rectangular slices are good medium/strong cheddar) and that was a little cheaper too.

Yes it has quietened down. We were there on Friday and there were hardly any other customers. All the cash tills were manned though!!
-
Went yesterday nearly empty went today even less ,the fruit and veg cheaper ,than others meat cheap as well ,better veg than migros just like uk today out of all the tills only two working ho hum 8) ;)
-
Someone said last week their loo rolls for a biggish pack are half the price to what you pay in Migros.
-
Don't be taken in by wonderful opening offers....it is what prices are like in a few weeks when it has settled down that will matter.
-
They do have a Kipa Clubcard. This is from their site:
About Clubcard Kipa:
For every £ 1 spent in purchases earn 1 point for customers, collect $ 2 discount when they reach 200 points for money Clubcard vouchers and Special Discount Coupons Newsletter every three months with a Clubcard home is mail.
-
There is an HSBC ATM in the car park that dispenses TL, Euro's and Pounds which is handy
Mark
-
At least, it saved us from Efes monopoly in Tansas and Migros :)
-
That's right Cenk, as I showed you Tesco owned supermarkets sell a bit more than just Efes. Including one of your favourites, "Super Bock" :D

Very strange that the pork shop in Calis sells Tesco bolognaise sauce, but we couldn't find any in Kipa.
-
If Kipa run the same way as UK Tesco's (proven to be successful), then the offers will last for a 4 week period.
Usually offers are on the gondola ends in the central aisle and then across the bottom gondola ends in the shop.Look for Red and Yellow offer labels as this makes it easier to spot offers in the main shelving.
We still think generally that prices are similar overall to the other supermarkets but there are bargains to be had.
Been in twice and there has only ever been 6 ladies t.shirts on sale plus some swimwear..:(
-
Must admit to buying 2 cotton T shirts for the wife. They are thinner cotton than in the U.K, but better for the weather here. 8)

Sounds similar to those I bought in Thailand last year - thinner but good quality and good for the warmer climate.
-
Shopped in both Tansas and Kipa yesterday. Their Antrikot was 28Tl in comparison with Tansas's 35Tl!!! Now, we rarely buy it but I began keeping an eye on the prices when I bought some just over a year ago in Tansas. At that time it was normally 24Tl but was reduced to 17Tl. SO its a massive hike up to 35Tl!!!!
Anyway, there's a saving if you want to treat yourselves.

Even it will be sold for free here, I think no one will buy it :D
-
Just a warning....check your receipt. I have just been to get some fresh milk. It was marked on the shelf and the bottle at 2TL. When scanned through the till it came out at 2.29TL. Needless to say I did not buy it, but did point it out to customer services.
Personally I don't think I will be shopping there again as I have been overcharged twice in two visits there.
-
It can't be any worse than the others - i've lost count of the amount of times Carrefour and Migros have ripped me off and for much more than 29kurus. Plus there's the issue of incorrect change (you never get the last few kurus - they always round it down or forget it if they haven't got enough coins) they must make a fortune from all these 5kurus they don't give back.
