Title: Flights into Turkey Goldtrail
Post by: Shishcojackson on July 20, 2010, 22:22:56 PM
Goldtrail, have as you know gone bust, refunds will take a while to go through, Customers that had booked with this company, are now being charged extra money for flights, but word is refunds will in time get refunded. I found jet 2 to be reasonable and the hand luggage is 10k and he hold is 22. Does anyone know another airline that has a good luggage allowance, as i am flying over soon.

Easyjet charging £9.00 for 20kgs if booked online and no weight restriction on hand luggage, as long as you can lift it into overhead storage.

It is amazing the price hike thats been caused by Goldtrails demise.
I have been checking every available flight and found that destinations that Goldtrail used are the ones that are now at silly prices, but flights to Antalya have not increased, am I correct in thinking it was not on Goldtrails list.
Have booked on Glasgow to Antalya for early next month, at a price that is a third of that to Dalaman.

Friends of mine were caught up in the Goldtrail thingy and they are really struggling to get away as prices are too high currently. I've been browsing constantly trying to help them get somethin. Fingers crossed.  8)

My family (4 of us) flew out to Turkey and back again for £440 last July with Goldtrail and it's true to say we can't fork out for flights this year at the prices they are! I've trawled and trawled the internet for VERY cheap flights, but does anyone know of any operators that reduce their flights as much as Goldtrail did?

Its irrevant as cheap is not cheap if you do NOT have a flight Goldtrail having taken your money days before they went bust.........

I know my son and grandson were due to fly 24 hours after the Goldtrail news broke.....so kind of feeling a bit sore at
the moment having to sort them alteraive flights so they had the holiday, my grandson was too young and oblivious to understand the problems....

I had to rebook our flights for next week, because of the Cyprus Turkish Airline collapse.  I booked them about three weeks ago, at a cost of £640 for the three of us, a 30% mark up on my original kthy flights (booked VERY cheaply almost a year ago).

Those same flights today (after goldtrail going bust as well) are almost £1500 for the three of us.

It's crazy!  So glad I booked when I did; we were wondering whether to hang on in case Atlasjet managed to bail us out with our original flights.  :o

my daughter in laws sister was at the airport when goldtrail went bust she ended up paying £285 each for the 3 of them for alternative flights, money that she didn't have. she ended up phoning her dad who lent her the money, they were at the airport and her son who's 8 was really upset that they couldn't go on holiday so it's ended up costing her a bomb for one weeks holiday

I have Christmas flights booked through Agean does this mean that they will be with Goldtrail, I never thought about this when I first heard of the collapse of Goldtrail.

Not necessarily  it will depend who you booked with, give the company you booked with a call to find out..

If you have booked with Aegean flights they are nothing to do with Goldtrail.

Karennina,
Aegean are the booking agents for Onur Air, Goldtrail were a different Company who just happened to charter Onur planes.
I would guess your flights are safe (I hope cos I have some booked)unless Goldtrail owed Onur a lot of money and Onur can't stand the debt.

Oh thank you very much for the replies, yes they are with Aegean so looks like we are safe then!

Aegean are the "flight only" division of h4u and are one of many booking agents for Onur Air. They book flights with Onur Air, Pegasus and even Monarch if it suits their needs.  Goldtrail are a company who book a block of seats on Onur Air flights. They do not charter Onur Air aircraft.

No matter who you are flying with there has got to be a worry if you booked through Goldtrail :(

We got a phone call from Co-op travel yesterday who we booked a package deal with in May for two weeks in September.
We are now flying with Monarch and different flight times because of Goldtrail, I didn't even realise we were with them in the 1st place. :-\. :o. Does anybody know the baggage allowance with Monarch airlines please. :)

Monarch allow 20kg for hold luggage, plus the usual 5kg for hand luggage.  Flying with them on Thursday, so hope they're ok.   :)

We have flown with Monarch a few times Julie, last time had an Airbus there and back and I have to say they were very good, we are going with them in October again, and yes 20kg hold and 5kg Hand.

Hope you have a great time.

Has anyone who booked flight only with airflights completed their form to claim off CAA
I'm getting mixed information......
We paid by Mastercard on the Tuesday and GT went bust on the Friday
I have phoned Mastercard who were no help at all. explained i had booked car park which couldn't been used as we didn't have a flight !! I have recevied a letter from parking co.to say no money is refundable. MC told me to claim through CAA, i asked them if they could freeze the payments for the flights, they said no, i explained that when/if i get my money back that will not cover the interest charges, basically they've said hard luck.....
Has anyone started the claim procedure, would be interested to know how it's going.
