We have said goodbye to Fuji Mehmet today in Kayakoy. Some of you may know him well from Cafe Pazar and Orient Express. He is a face that I am sure you would all recognise. Unfortunately I cannot find a photo of him right now.
Fuji was tragically killed by a drunk driver while he was crossing the road early Thursday morning.
Our thoughts are with his family and his wife Caroline and he will be missed for his friendly personality and love of Raki and fish we he used to share with his friends.

Sincere condolences to the family on such a tragedy.
As regulars of both cafe pazar and the orient express we must know Mehmet but just cant place him, if anybody has a picture it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the photo, as I now recognise him, the 'Fuji' part confused me as I only knew him as Mehmet.
A very sad loss. :(

After not seeing Fuji Mehmet for over 15 years, i decided to search for him on google and this is the news I find about him... I am extremely sad, tears in my eyes, i was planning to visit Fethiye this year and I was hoping to see him again. I knew him since mid 1980's and shared house with him nearly for 6 years..
He used to get mails addressed to FUJI MEHMET FETHIYE/MUGLA. He was full of life and very kind man with good moral.. I will always remember him.
Rest In Peace Mehmet abi
The name Fuji stayed with him from the small photography shop he had, and promoted Fuji films in his shop. It was green with fuji signs and the shop was the size of a telephonebooth next to information center.

I was lost for something to say when I read your post Cem. What a shock and a disappointment for your plans to visit all the way from Australia. It was also an interesting post so can I say thanks for that.
