Post by: GrantT on August 06, 2010, 21:48:40 PM: Depends what you are looking for. Tadims on the harbour front is cheap and cheerful and the food generally good. Megri's in the old town at the end of the harbour is a bit more expensive, but a lovely place - the staff are very friendly and it's a lovely setting and good food.

Post by: captainjon on August 07, 2010, 14:02:00 PM: Some of the suggestions are not exactly in,or on the harbour.Try the Arena restaurant,it is situated at the end of the harbour where the Beledye blue and green Mercedes bus turnround is.As you get off the bus,look to its front and slightly left.Its the first entrance to the paspatur and is a galleried restaurant,so just look up It has a view of the harbour and the commercial quay.Arif is the head man(not the owner) but runs it superbly.

Post by: Christie on August 07, 2010, 16:46:08 PM: What are the meals like at the Arena now - we used to go there a year or so back when they served up absolutely delicious and different meals but unfortunately they left and someone else took over just serving bog standard food you could get anywhere. Have new owners taken it over this year ?

Post by: captainjon on August 08, 2010, 12:47:45 PM: Restaurant owners seldom give up their restaurants.They have a head waiter for wont of a better expression who takes it on.Very often they work with a regular chef. He will then hire the waiters,create the menu and run the operation.Arif,who a lot of people know runs Arena,there is a totally new menu this year.We have eaten there, THREE times this year and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.I guess food tastes are subjective,but it is always consistently good,which I think most Brits expect.Good eating.
