Title: Ladies living in & around Calis
Post by: tytots on August 14, 2010, 08:17:59 AM
I know someone who is living in Calis that is finding it hard to meet up with ladies for friendship. Not one for expat cafes etc, would be good if some one out there has same problem, an answer, or suggestions. She is mid fourties.

Theres the Embrace coffe morning starting again in september on wednesday mornings ...That is very friendly.
They are always looking for extra helpers too which is a good way of getting to know a few people.
Similarly in September I am sure the Carnival will be looking for assistants.

There are various walking groups, yoga classes and FIG advertise for helpers as do the Calis Carnival.I know line dancing was popular at one time is Ovacik, maybe they still have classes. Going to a language class to improve conversational Turkish will also mean a certain amount of social life. The gardening club also meet regularly. Is the art class still on at the Mosaic Bahce?

Good luck to her. :)

FiG Coffee mornings every wednesday at 11 to 1 pm Tadim Cafe on Marina in Fethiye behind Cafe Penguen
FiG volunteer at shop or just call in anytime for tea and a chat with the volunteers while shop open Monday to Fridays 10am to 4 pm except Wednesdays 1pm to 6pm
Plenty of books to borrow for 1 lire each too
FiG are also looking for anybody who would like to help organize extra fundraising events.

I found myself in the same situation until meeting people at the coffee mornings Now know lots of people all with different hobbies interests etc and everyone is very friendly and welcoming to newcomers.

Thank you for your replies. I should have mentioned she has 12yr old son, he is now fluent in Turkish & she is learning the language. Unfortunately she has physical problems which has meant a stop to most activities. Thanks again
