When you holiday in Calis and Fethiye, you are half an hour (well 45 minutes maybe 8) ) from an amazing beach - Iztuzu Beach near Dalyan. In some ways it beats Olu Deniz Beach hands down. It's so close you should make a point to go :)
Here is a photo of me working hard there:

Amazing fine sand and the sea gets deeper at a rate of 1" per mile ;) - absolutely perfect for kids.

Accessible by dolmus from Fethiye ? :)
-
Its great in the Winter too. No worries about disturbing the turtles and the dogs can run for miles with no-one there.

Is that the beach they take you to when you go down the Dalyan, river past all the rock tombs? If it is I can second your description Keith.

It is Stoop but I think this is the opposite end of that beach. I've never been on the rock tombs boat trip so not entirely sure.

I would like to go there without the mud bath etc, if anyone knows a boat trip without mud baths or an alternate way to get there can you let me know? X

Frequent dolmus service from Dalyan dolmus station, takes about 30 minutes if I remember correctly. A pleasant trip through the countryside.

That explains the shallow sea comment as the water at the river entrance end gets deeper
with strong currents but as you say it is an amazing beach.

If you can get to Dalyan independently just go to the boat co-op on the river front, negotiate your price and what you want to do. We did it 2 years ago and they took us to a riverside bar for lunch and then to the tombs and on to the beach. They gave you a time to be back to the boat and then you are returned back to Dalyan. We went in the September and had the boat to ourselves (4 of us) as there were few tourist compared to the number of boats.

Or you just get a standard price co-op boat shuttle to drop you at the beach and the last boat leaves about 6pm as the beach is closed then. Alternatively you can get a dolmus from Dalyan to the other end of Iztuzu Beach. If you have your own transport then you can drive to the far end also and stop at the lovely view points for some amazing pics and there is lovely restaurants to stop at along the way,its a lovely drive. Food and drinks both end of the beach also when you are there.

Someone was bound to ask LOL. So this is the end that you can drive to or get the Dolmus down to.

This is also where they have the huge tanks to keep the injured Turtles in . As you drive down onto the beach and you have to stop to pay the small charge look back away from the sea and over to the far right and you will spot the green rooftops of the sanctuary. Well worth a visit and it is amazing to see the works they are doing to get these beautiful creatures healed enough to be returned to the sea. Mostly they have been damaged by speedboats or propellers of large boats so the damage is to their shells but with correct treatment and time they can improve. This end of the beach in my opinion is so much nicer than the "commercial" end for just relaxing and there is one cafe and the prices are normal. As Keith says it is ideal for children .
