Title: Kipa supermarket
Post by: icw on August 23, 2010, 16:29:10 PM
Does anyone have any idea of how big kipa supermarket is? Apperently it's quite big, but not sure if it's on a par with a large Tesco?

On par with a large Tesco - not as big as a Tesco Extra
The aircon is superb - worth a visit at the moment even if you are not buying anything - in fact think we'll go tonight - only 800m from us :D

...and 6 packs of Tuborg Special lager for the same price as a 6 pack of Efe's.  No contest ;)  Looking forward to a drink in a week or so:-\ after this tummy bug thing has run its course.  They are getting cold in the fridge and I will have to rescue them so they don't get hypothermia.:D

We went twice while in Calis recently, absolutly loved it (how sad!) the layout really reminded me of an English Tesco prices were good and as Ian said the aircon was superb. Bought a big industrial fan which was amazing really cooled the bedroom down for sleeping and it worked out at nearly  £18  which I thought was a good price for such a powerful fan. Also caught the free bus back to Calis after. Definetley my favourite supermarket from now on.

Love Kipa, my favourite Supermarket now, does remind me of Tesco in the U.K.  It's on the Gunlukbasi Road going out of Fethiye towards Calis.

There is a little bus shelter and seat at the very end of the car park, there you will find a timetable of the free bus service I think the ones to Calis were every two or three hours, we had a look at the timetable before we went in and timed our shopping for one of the buses (hubby is Scottish so was happy to save a lira and a half)only joking!we just happened to be in time for a free bus back with our shopping, lovely little minibus / dolmus transport, we were hoping to maybe go as far as the Pelin but he stopped by the Meri bar that was fine though it was free so we could not expect to be dropped at the door.

I live near Devlet Hastane and Alo 24 near Calis Does anyone know if the buses go near there to Kipa? May go once more to see if I think its improved though I did think its expensive. ie Cherry Syrup 1.85 tl BiM, 3.70 tl Kipa, same make. But I did get 2 packs of Feast frozen peas Buy 1 get 1 free, thats all I bought!!
Feast frozen peas here are the only ones worth buying Most are like rocks

Also our fave supermarket of the moment.
Excellent meat counter and fish all tagged with date of catch so you can check freshness.
One of the few supermarkets that do reduce priced goods later in the day.
We also heard that there will be a loyalty card scheme maybe early next year.........

We did a large supermarket shop here when we first arrived.  A nice store, but rubbish carrier bags.  They were breaking one after the other when we were trying to put our groceries in.  We got a taxi back - there was shopping everywhere by the time we got home!

My tip?  Take your own bags!!!!  :D

Is there anything for sale in the Kipa which is different to the goods that can be bought in any other supermarket in the area?

When I went yesterday there were new huge plain white bags. It was difficult to stop them banging on the pavement. It is only a 45 minute walk from Calis. Fruit is good and you can get Schweppes tonic water. Tuborg is good and Miller draught is nice too. Also a small loaf for 50 kurus.

I agree, its better to use reusable bags, the carriers there are dire.  I was showered with glass and water when a carrier broke near me.

When we went they had some really good offers on if you spent 50 lira you could buy a huge bottle of Pantene shampoo or four cartons of milk for 1 lira, unfortunately I did not realise the offer was for one of the items only so I took four bottles of shampoo up to the till and four cartons of milk which all had to be handed back except for one bottle of Pantene!
