These are some of the rules for driving in turkey,if you have any more to add please feel free

You must overtake any vehicle whist approching a roundabout
use your horn at all times
No use of indicators
Stop in the middle of the road for a chat
double park wherever possible
When being overtaken take offence and drive even faster
Use your horn 1 millisecond after the lights turn green
Dont stop at lights

Sorry Welshbrickie, you are wrong on one point.  They begin hooting 3 seconds before the lights change to green.  In anticipation of you not pulling away fast enough.  :D

The only valid reason to scrap a vehicle in Turkey is if the horn doesn't work.  ;)

When double parking on the back road in Fethiye, ensure the car you block in entirely belongs to Scunner.

Couple more rules.
When you park or even double park make sure the driver or the passenger (whoever is sitting on the outside) swings open the door without looking.
Make sure when you park in the one way street in Fethiye you get so close to the car next to you that the driver of said car has to get in through their passenger side.
When turning out of a side road remember not to stop just swing right out no matter what traffic is coming. ;)

Mobile phone must be pressed to ear at all times.
Get in the right-hand lane to turn left at any junction.

When you have your mobile in your left hand and you are changing gear with your right hand, remember to steer with your knees. On no account decrease speed.

Always ensure you have at least 10 passengers.
Always have your stereo blasting at maximum volume.
Always ensure the kids are sitting on mums knee in the front of the car, with no seat belt on.
Make sure only one headlight works, and always have your fog lights on.

Even when the lights have turned red you still have 5 or 10 seconds to drive through.

Always have a 2 metre square flag draped over back window, obliterating your rear view,(Mirrors are only for primping heavily gelled hair anyway)!!

under no circumstances let a scooter overtake you.
when going straight on at the roundabout be sure to block the right turn lane if the lights are on red.
do not use indicators.
feel free to pull out of a side road anytime.

Ensure that you injure at least one cyclist each day. If you cannot knock one down by entering a main road from a side road without looking you can be sure to get one by opening your car door at the right moment ( this is the only time you are allowed to check your rear mirror for traffic - see earlier post about hair)

One for the pedestrians
If a car is reversing into a parking spot make sure you walk behind it whilst it is moving!
Don't know about you but it is a standing joke with us if ever you reverse having checked there are no people around one always turns up from somewhere.
 :) :)

Always get in the lane with the fewest cars in.Doesn't matter which way you want to turn.

Always keep the poor devil behind guessing.

When he thinks he knows what you're doing - change your mind.

Never look at another driver, if you can't see him it's not your fault if you hit him.

I asked a friend whether you pass the driving test in Turkey by not crashing the car. He replied 'You can crash the car, but as long as no one has major injuries or dies then you've passed!' :D

At a set of lights, every inch of space must be used at al times.  2 lanes turns into 3 or 4....it's the law, honest ;)

When reversing, make sure you do so at approximately 80km/hour, with the palm on 1 hand flat on the steering wheel and the other behind the passenger headrest. Under no circumstances should you have proper control of the steering wheel whilst reversing.

Yesterday whilst waiting for the Dolmus at Dolphinless roundabout a van approached and a baby of no more than 18 months was standing on the drivers knees with both hands on the wheel.    The driver had the tip of one finger on the bottom of the steering wheel, the van was travelling at about 50mph and neither of them were strapped in.

Beggars belief but I saw it with my own eyes!

It is obligatory for tractors to drive at night without lights. Lorries may do the same if they wish.
