The NHS has plenty of them but here's something they may want to think about.
02 September - I had an appointment with my GP who said he would arrange an appointment with our local hospital.
05 September - travelled to Calis
08 September - letter from Raigmore Hospital, Inverness arrived at house inviting me to phone and arrange a suitable date and requesting reply within 7 days.
15 September - second letter from Raigmore arrived at house referring to the first and again asking for reply within 7 days.
20 September - travelled back from Calis
21 September - phoned Raigmore to arrange appointment. Lady asked if I would prefer to have it to be in Dingwall and did I want an appointment that day.
22 September - attended appointment at 12 o'clock in Dingwall.

That is a good report about a service that has its critics. :)
Did you see a consultant or was it a video link to hospital?

Hopefully wont need to see consultant Heather. Have appointment with GP in two weeks.

Good to see that the NHS is still as good as the wife always said it was.Hope you are going to be ok Highlander.

If you want to see how good our run down, underfunded and MRSA ridden NHS really is, go and live abroad for a few years. Having taken it for granted before we left (and not exactly impressed more often than not), even two years after returning we are still finding ourselves in awe of it - and the people within it.

Anyone can get an appointment! it's treatment you're after

My daugther had some tests done and the receptionist at the Doctor's rang her at 9.00am to say the Doctor needed to speak to her. So my daughter said fine, put me through. The receptionist told her she had to book a telephone appointment to speak to the Doctor and the first one 3.30pm the next day!!!! So, basically, the receptionist rings, tells you the news and leaves you to worry for over 24 hours!!!
I never heard of a phone appointment before.

Whilst that's true Tink, I think the waiting time has come down dramatically in recent times.

There has certainly been vast improvements in the NHS over the past few years. Having recently re registered with my GP after bein in Turkey for 4 years and I noticed the difference. Being a diabetic the GP made sure that my medicines prescribed in Turkey were the correct medicines and then converted those specific to Turkey into the equivalent in the UK. I was sent off for a number of appointments and checks on my sugar levels, organ functions and my eyes.These tests were arranged and done in a matter of days. I also received copies of the results so I was prepared for my next appointment with the GP.
All i hope for is that these drastic cuts being proposed by the current government do not impair the NHS in any way.
