Today we have rescued an emaciated donkey from the Uzumlu road :o
she is now at the Animal Shelter but will need a lot of love and tender care to get back to full health :)
We will be going out tomorrow to buy some special needs and food for her but it will take quite a while so there is ample oppertunity for anybody passing to pop in and say haylo to her and drop off some goodies to make her better 8)
We will also be looking for a name!
I have to special big Thank Yous to Christine from Uzumlu who brought it to our attention and was a great help in the rescue and settling her in at the shelter ;)
also to Stephan who picked the donkey up in his van and delivered her to the Shelter ;)
Well done both of you!!!

-
just been looking at her legs, looks like she has been shackled tightly. Is this still a fresh wound Tinx ? are their vet bills involved ?
-
Bless her, lets hope she gets lots of visitors, and lots of goodies.
Cant wait to come home and see her xxx from me to her.
-
Hope she gets well soon, why are there such "bar stewards" in this world.
-
Hi all, we were the ones that helped bring her to the centre. We have an equine vet coming over on the 14th Oct. So she will be given the once over. Mickayla wil be coming to work over her in 18 month time. She will be joining our vet Ozgur in Fethiye.
-
I am sure the vets should look after the abandoned animals for free including the surgery if needed.
My suggestion of the name ZEYNEP because if any female child is found abandoned, the authorities always called them as ZEYNEP.
We will try in the next few days to visit and bring something for her...thanks a lot to everyone who has helped especially you Andy ...
loves..

Yes it is shackle wear but no open wounds, a bit of TLC should sort it, should be able to give her a little scrub wash today :)

Our suggestion for a name is Lulu.A simple play on words for where she was found on the Uzumlu Road.

Hi all, the donkey has been at the centre just 8days and looking better. We visited her today with Linda & Mario who brought their vet Serkan.
Serkan gave the animal a full exmination. He concluded that it is a Mule (male horse + female donkey). It is approximately 19 years old and is female. Mules can live until their thirties. There are no major medical problems. Its teeth are in good order. Serkan gave her some worming paste and a anti-inflamatory injection. The injection was because she has a few sores and slight skin infections with some inflamation.
The mule is otherwise in fairly good health. She is suffering from malnutrician which is why we need help to ensure she get fed regularly. In the past week she has settled down very well and put on a little weight. She really needs some TLC. Today she had a short walk and rolled on her left side. It was wonderful to see her happy.
-
Hi Christine, went up yesterday with Pauline. Was wondering if she could do with her teeth being rasped as she was dropping quite a lot of her food?
-
Hi Peecee,
Her teeth are in good Serkan gave the animal a full exmination.
I am aware that you and Pauline went up after she was seen by the Vet.
-
Once again well done to Andy Pauline and all the others involved in making this animals life so much better. It will be a pleasure to read the folllow up stories and see the difference a little TLC makes. Hopefully more pictures as her condition improves. You are all doing such fantastic work in rescuing these unfortunate animals.
-
Yes, well done to everyone who has made this animals life a better one now. I applaud you in the good work you do.
-
Will you be looking for a home for lulu eventually?
-
Yes we are looking to rehome her now, someone with a stable facility would be good for the coming winter, shes doing fine up at the shelter but there is no real cover for her up there.
-
I suppose it wouldn't be so expensive to keep her if there was a nearby field she could graze in? What would your estimate be per week? :)
-
Great news!:D
Lulu has found a new home! a new stable is being erected as we speak and she will be moved in by the end of the month ;)
Thank you everyone for your support :)

We would like to say thats to Sue and Mike C and Ros and Peter all from Uzumlu who have been taking time out to come and feed her too. Lulu will be moved soon and have a friend too. Ates is a 14.3hh Halflinger pony. Our friends need a companion for him. We will update u all with more info soon and pics too.
-
Lulu is off to her new home tomorrow :)
We offered the new owners a donation from our funds but it was refused, they would rather we kept it and used it at the shelter :)
Thank you to everyone who has paid her a visit and helped with the feeding, she is slowly making progress and this should speed up a bit now she has a new home ;)
