Call me a cynic but I would be interested to see where they are in 5 years.

I have weighed up all the evidence and my conclusion is, that in answer to your question, I suspect no, it will not last.

awww.  wheres your sense of romance ?  my grandparents met at 12 - married at 18 and were together for 60 years.....

Hope these two prove you cynics wrong..

(doesn't mean that I agree with the path her parents took :-\)

and what is even sadder is that, if things don't work out, the baby will probably stay here with the Father.

Eh? Where did that come from?

....and I see no reason whatsoever why it shouldn't last. Look around this site - there are quite a few Turkish-English couples who probably started off as a holiday romance, and I think they may take offence at some of the comments on this thread.

Not me - I'm all set for a single lonely and miserable retirement in Calis.

Now, those that have got jobs - get back to work.  (Memo to self!)

Call me a cynic too, but i can't see it lasting. At age 15-18,you are impressionable, and i know i thought that i was capable of making my own decisions, which now, looking back not all were the right decisions.i cannot believe that her parents allowed her to return to Turkey unaccompanied at the age of 15.Call me old fashioned but, i always thought that a parents job was to protect our children.in English law, you are not classed as an adult until the age of 18, so iMO her parents have neglected their duties.
Having said that, i wish the young couple luck, and hope that they do prove us cynics wrong.

Rpg9000 the story said that they agreed to let their daughter fly out to turkey with an older friend, who later dropped out, so they still let her fly out to Turkey on her own, perhaps I am mistaken in her age, but she is only 17 now, and said they have been together for 2 years, so i figured she was 15!??! Yes you are right there are quite a few Turkish-English couples, some friends of mine are, but they are older, and said themselves things where different when they got together. We have had this dicussion many many times on here, and it always turns into quite a lively debate, but everyone has their opinions.  :)

Sorry Nuttybird, I was a bit harsh there and I apologise for that. I've read the article again and she could well have been still 15 when she returned.

I'd best get back to work..............

In 5 years time 2 of them will be in Mansfield, you old cynic Mark ;) but I think the parents should take a serious look in the mirror, a 15 year old allowed to travel alone to meet a (holiday romance)boy friend,[:(!] she was just a child for gods sake:-\ what on earth were they thinking :o

If my crystal ball has been repaired properly, BM06, I should take the context of your post to mean that the 2 that you are talking about, are the mother and baby, I would wager? Because as soon as matey boy has his U.K. visa, and gets himself over here , he will most probably be offsky!! Whole new world, and all that!
And YES, I am a cynic, but more importantly, a realist.
Gordy.

Another question to ask is how she managed to fly, unaccompanied at age 15? i was under the impression that you could only fly aged 15 if accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
Totally agree with you Des....shame on the parents.

Not the same I know but I met my husband at aged 15 years. When we got married at 18 (not pregnant) everyone said they would give it 6 months. We have been together for 41 years and yesterday were married for 38 years.

What puzzles me is that, presumably, this sort of thing happens in lots of countries and yet seems to get reported disproportionally when it happens in Turkey.:(

At 15 and a half I joined the3 Navy.
Some months later I was in Yemen with a gun.
I don't think flying by yourself at 15 is very wrong.

Lets face it, flying  these days is just like taking a bus.

Steve, I do not think the flying at 15 years of age was the issue, IMO, the what and where she was flying to at 15 is.:-\
