When flying from Dalaman Domestic Terminal into Ataturk Airport, then onwards from Ataturk on a long haul flight - does anyone know if our luggage will automatically go through or whether we will have to reclaim it in the domestic terminal and take it to the next check-in?
Thanks for any info.

It will certainly happen if you are flying Turkish airlines all the way. Just ask at the check-in desk.
As for transferring between different airlines, I don't know.
-
Yes, Turkish Airlines all the way.
Thanks for your reply.

If all the way with Turk airline they will check your luggage through to your final destination You will also get boarding cards for all the flights when you check in at Dalaman

Thanks Julesp

Also Pegasus all the way you don,t touch your luggage, just done the trip and thought it was really good.

Im thinking of going Turkish airlines Dublin-Istanbul-Dalaman later in the year due to time off work etc cant get direct flights Thomas Cook from Belfast currently arent selling any for Halloween time - did this a number of years ago and from memory was quite a walk from one terminal to the other can someone enlighten me? ... also can't remember do you get your visa in Istanbul as this will delay us further.....as Turkish airlines sugguested flights only 1 hour 15 minutes connection time... also what are chances if 1st flight delayed that domestic one would wait for connecting passengers???
-
You get your visa in Istanbul which is usually quick No big queues, If you come out of international after passport control and turn left,at the end there is a door with a passageway that takes you directly into domestic Its about 5 minutes max walk With moving walkways
Im presuming all with Turk airlines so your luggage will be booked through No waiting at baggage control in Istanbul But you will be taken from Domestic to International at Dalaman to pick your luggage up

They will wait if they know the flight has landed or is near to landing.
Otherwise you have to get the next one. If you are flying in on an evening flight this normaly means the next morning, but you do get put up at a nearby hotel.

thanks for that may wait until nearer the time incase Thomas Cook put on a direct flight to Dalaman from Belfast cant believe they dont have one as its school holiday time but just want to leave all options open :)
-
DianaJ have you considered Dublin - Manchester, or other UK airport and then onward with Thomas Cook etc?
-
looked at all those options as well but thought at least with the same airline all the way if flight delays and you miss connection they would have to put you on the next flight
