Breaking news. What appears to be a terrorist bomb has exploded in Taxim Square at the centre of Istanbul. 15 people reported injured; no deaths.

I just read of this in our local paper, it seems that it was a suicide bomber who blew himself to bits amidst the crowds in Taksim Square. The puzzling bit is, that the report says that police started indiscriminate firing into the crowded area, after the chappie had discumbooberated himself, just who were they shooting at??

Authorities believe it may be related to a unilateral ceasefire agreement by some Kurdish element??
Mayhap some of you residents over there may know more of the ceasefire thing?

The PKK had held a cease fire which expired on the 31st October. The Turkish government had asked that the cease fire be extended, I think that was the answer!
