At the bottom of my keyboard underneath the shift bar there is a little button it shows white light if you press it then it shows red any ideas egg heads [^] ;)

Lance has the laptop got a touch pad? if you click and the light comes on does the touchpad then turn off? click it again and then the touch pad works?
