Title: Another Controversy
Post by: Colwyn on December 20, 2010, 13:24:39 PM
Now a matter of some seriousness, particularly at this time year. Sprouts. These seem to divide opinion as deeply as the notorious Marmite. Now I love sprouts. For me they are one of the great treats of winter - and not just for Christmas dinner. But I understand that some wimpish, finnicky eaters have a problem with them. Ridiculous.

[But don't open a jar of Marmite within my smelling range.]

I am a big fan of both sprouts and Marmite, so I will add something I really can't stand. Butternut squash, what the hell is that all about, it's vile!

Marmite yes, sprouts only at Christmas and even then only 2 or 3.

Sprouts at anytime for me.
Marmite OK but only if thinly spread on toast.
Butternut squash, no thanks I find it a bit insipid.

Sprouts and Marmite, the 2 Y's.  Yeuk for the former, Yum for the latter.

And if too many sprouts are available on Christmas day, Dave is staying with you till boxing day Eric. [xx(]

I'm not sure I'd even feed it to a rabbit. But I hate it so much I once sent back a goat cheese salad with rocket leaves, instructing it to be smothered in salad dressing.

And am I the only one who cannot stand prawns? Please tell me there's someone else!

Hilary sent me off to The Local this lunchtime (reluctantly I forced myself to go) to buy some homemade Christmas pickles from the woman who calls in every Wednesday. One chap asked what I had bought. When I showed him he recoiled: "Horseradish!!! Horrible. Hate it". This thread needs more people who hate things to stir it up a bit.

I hate anything homemade by anyone I don't know - I can't eat mince pies, chutneys, jams, cakes, pies, of any description if they are home made by a stranger.
