Title: Cd drive

Does anyone know why i cant close my cd drive when my laptop is turned on but it closes when i turn it off ???

Jan.....I could not possibly answer your last question:D  However this may be of some help with your problem...copied from ehow


While a laptop's CD writer makes it convenient to copy CDs, these drives can occasionally experience problems. If the tray on the CD writer does not close, and there are no objects blocking it, there are several steps you can take to correct the problem.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need:

    * Metal paper clip

      Possible Solutions
   1.

      Right-click on the "My Computer" icon, available on the Windows XP desktop and through opening the "Start" menu and choosing "Computer" in later versions. Right-click on the CD drive icon and click on the "Eject" option. Allow a few moments and then try to close the drive. If it does not work, proceed to the next step.

      Select the "Start" menu and click on "All Programs" from the menu. Choose "Accessories," then click "System Tools," and click on "System Restore" to restore your computer's settings to a date when the drive was working correctly. If the problem persists, move to the next step.
   3.

      Look for the pinhole on the front of the CD/DVD drive or next to it. This can be used to reset the drive. Unfold a metal paper clip and push the end gently into the hole. You may need to insert the paper clip several times until the door opens or closes.

I wish i could steve. My drawers will be fully open if i dont resolve prob before. -))))
