im in england at the moment and dask is due in feb , i used intasure last year to get it . is it possible for a friend who lives over in turkey to get dask for me ? if so what infoormation do they need ? my place is exactly the same size as my friends but my garden is bigger would this affect my premium . thanks

Patch, the answer is no , the only thing that affects the final price is the type of construction and the gross/total square metreage of the building.

I have worked with different insurance companies over the years....
If you have an existing DASK insurance policy, and you wish to renew the same policy with the same broker, then they can give you a quotation using the information that you gave them from the previous year. All necessary details are saved and then the new policy amount is calculated.
If you want a new quotation from a broker that you haven't used before, then you would need to provide a photocopy of your title deed, as well as the square meterage of your property. From that the new broker will be able to get a quotation of your DASK policy.

Nikkie, how do you stand in a multi occupied building regarding the dask policy, ie I own the hole ground floor with three apartments above two of which I have sold, does the whole sqm of the building have to be on one policy, or do we have to insure the individual apartments. thanks in advance your help.

Hi BM06,

All properties need to have an individual DASK assurance by law.
If you have sold the other properties, then the new property owner is liable for DASK (and other insurances, etc) after they have signed for their tapu (title deed).
Each individual 'dwelling' (property) has to have their own DASK policy.
