Hello everyone my name Alan Skilton and i live in Newbury in the UK.
We are seriously thinking and looking into moving to Turkey hopefully next year if it all pans out.
I am 51 coming up 52 next month and its either now or never for the new start.
I look forward to getting loads of sensible answers to my silly questions and boy i have loads, but i figure that there will be loads of people on here that have done it and know all the pit falls.
Things we should do and things we shouldn't.
thanks in advance for all the helpi know your all going to be in the future.
Alan.

Welcome happy flyer, you are clearly up for a challenge and appear to be in a position to make the move of a life time! Why Turkey as opposed to any place else, presume you know and love the Country.
I am 56 and our eventual dream is to also move out to Turkey when I retire in a couple of years. After a great deal of research, lots of useful advice and support from the Forum, we purchased our 3 bed apartment in Ovacik 2 years ago and we get out 4 or 5 times a year and love it! Have you already got a place, are you going to buy or are you thinking of renting?
Good luck with the move and happy postings on the forum.

Hi Kevin,
We have only been to Turkey Calis once and unlike other places we have been just fell in love with the people, places and the food, weather and well just about everything. The Turkish people seem so welcoming and make you feel at home.
Buying in the end hopefully but renting probably to start to make sure we still like it over the winter.
We've made friends with people there and we're coming out for another taste in August this year and we can't wait, we are hiring one of their apartments for 2 weeks then and plan on having a forage about and see what the prices are like now.
We last went out 2 years ago and the pang it live there is still as strong now if not stronger , so we will see.

Alan, I am sure you will make the right decision, especially if the desire is still strong so as to get back out there after a couple of visits.
My wife and I have visited about 6 times since we purchased our place; I just keep an eye out for good flights! Cheapest flight I have had was £80 return each last November. the weather was superb, bit chilly at night but great in the day. We have actually been out for long weekend 3 times, fly from Manchester early Friday morning and back Monday afternoon, really enjoy that to be honest.
Anyway, good luck and keep us all posted about your move.

hi and a warm welcome, one day we also hope to retire to our place in the sun if the government stop putting up the retirement age and the house prices go up
