Just read Kale Park being/has been demolished anybody got any further details??
-
Where did you read that Peter?
-
Keith. Facebook of Fethiye Times tonight.
-
i read the same on FB by Fethiyetimes... no details though.
-
Thanks - at least that is a pretty reliable source.

Yes Kale Park has been demolished, some friends went there on Sunday to find that it has been demolished, said something about being illegaly built, I don't know if that is true. Such a shame as it was a lovely place to take friends & family visitors.
-
oh what a shame -not - I might still go there and stand and admire the view without the need to endure the poor service and below average food.
-
Totally agree with GB on that one, one of the worst places i hve eaten in the past 5 years.
-
Good riddance this place was a shame the food was poor quality and even though we gave them a second chance were proved right first time it was awful, great view though!
-
Totally agree GB
-
I wonder if they will now build loads of apartments on the site now?
-
Was a very clear day in Fethiye today...
and on the hill by the Castle there are still signs of Kale park.
will go up there tomorrow and check.
Demolished is an over used word!

I for one will be sorry to see it go, when it first opened we always used to go up for lunch and the chicken caesar salad was lovely.
Last year the food had gone right off and the salad was not the same, however, still loved to go up for an afternoon drink and just sit and look at the view and feel a cool breeze blowing. Food and chefs can always be changed fabulous locations cannot. This place was a real asset to the area. Hope someone else will think of opening up another restaurant and it will not become flats.
-
I must say I agree. We hadn't gone for a year or two because the opinions of far too many people I know were so negative. It's a shame because the times we went there before then, the food was fabulous and the service spot on. Possibly the one of best combinations of food, service and setting that we have had in the area. Didn't stay that way for long which seems to be a problem in a number of places over the years.

Taken from the "Turkey's for Life" blog today:-
"we finally reached the site of Kale Park...and a huge chunk has indeed been demolished. But, the area where the kitchens are and the main doors are still standing. We saw a note on the door. 'Tadilattayiz.' (Changes, alterations, amendments) Perhaps an understatement. It appears 'Tadilattayiz' can mean anything from 'We're closed because we're having our shop refitted with some new shelving,' to, in this case, 'We're closed because our restaurant needs to be less than half the size it once was.' We love Kale Park so we're hoping it will be open again soon - albeit in a smaller capacity."
-
Part of it was definitely on an area where long standing and award winning plans for a centre for promoting local handicrafts to include eateries and a place where weddings could be held plus a walk through small scale model of the area were to be developed. And maybe one day the talking will stop and some action may happen :o
Watch the space to see if 'The Shat' (oh dear that does not do well in English!) will be affected as that development is/was also dubious being right next to a bird sanctuary etc. etc. And now we have caretta turtle protection issues coming into the picture, will things change for the better or just change?
-
oh thats a shame it was really popular with tourists, and i know several others that liked it.
-
We also agree with the above comments... the food and service was awful. The owners thought the view was enough, and didnt bother with the rest. Also we felt it was too big and impersonal for us, preferring the `Sundial` mmmmmmmmm .
-
Went up there this afternoon. Half of the building has been demolished. As you look at the building from the car park it is the right side that has gone. All the rubble is still there, the 'demolition' work has been a bit rough and ready as there is 'damage' to the remaining part and some of it is open to the elements. There is no evidence of any building or renovation work being carried out, there is no building materials there which I would have expected to see if it was renovation.
-
Heard that the build was illegal but was passed by the council in charge to go ahead and build :o
-
Excuse my ignorance of this (former?) restaurant/bar, but where was it located?
