Title: Kings Garden Sunday Roast
Post by: Firo on February 20, 2011, 15:28:51 PM
Just had the 3 course Sunday roast special at the Kings. Choice of garlic mushrooms to start or soup followed by roast pork or beef and then a dessert of Apple crumble with birds custard or pancakes.
We had the garlic mushrooms (best I've had)then roast pork with all the trimmings and the crumble. Got to say one of the best Roast dinners I've had here with the added bonus of the views over Fethiye.
Will definitely go back again.

We also had the Sunday roast today and couldnt fault it.Three of our party had the garlic mushrooms and two had lentil soup. We all had roast beef with all the trimmings and then apple crumble and custard to follow. The whole meal was absolutley delicious, plus we got picked up and dropped off as well.Thank you Sahli and staff.

What was the cost please, was there a vegetarian option ?

3 courses and tea or coffee 15tl. Have no idea about the vegetarian option. You will have to contact them and ask.

Just returned from 'The King's Garden' with three friend's and as previously reported the Sunday Lunch was first class.

Salih is a really nice young man and his English is faultless. He's making a real effort to pull round his Father's previously ailing business and deserves to do well.

Given the location of his restaurant with it's lovely views over Fethiye and Salih's attention to detail I think he has every chance of success.

Definitely a new place to put on your list of new restaurant's to try.

Another newie for us to try in the Summer and great that he does transfers. Must second that the roast at the Melodi is brilliant too and nothing too much trouble.
Wishing both places well for the Summer season and will be frequenting both I am sure.

2 spuds, 2 small bits of brocolli, 1 bit of caulli, my god, that would be a starter for me, im 15 stone, need feeding. ;) try Zaccumms fethiye, now that is a real sunday roast, and its carvery style, 3 choices of meat on your plate, then help yourself to as much veg as you like,10 spuds if you want(i went for 9) ;)and real apple sauce. yum yum.:D:D

Think there are two trains of thought here.  The ex pats in the area long for a Sunday Roast and it must be really appreciated. The holidaymakers who are only out for short periods perhaps want to sample local food.  We never could face a roast on a Sunday when on holiday.  We are going to give this place a try, but hopefully they will have some Turkish food on the menu?

I also prefer to eat Turkish when out, but I did try the Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago with a friend, the first time ive ever bought a Sunday lunch anywhere, inc Uk, cos I prefer mine, brill value for money though and was plenty for me with 3 courses

Salih of course does Turkish food too, I had Kofte Guvec when we had the FiG night there, that was also good

Sorry Des, totally disagree with you.Went to Zakuums for the Sunday roast, it was awful. There may be 3 types of meat on their carvery menu but they are all indistinguishable and tasteless! I like value for money, but not at the cost of enjoying my meal.We are defo going to try Kingsgarden.

Salih, the review I promised to post!

What can I say, I had the pleasure, along with my wife and two friends, to eat at Salih's place early this week. 3 of us decided on traditional Turkish food and I had a massive T Bone (I had eaten Turkish every night until then and fancied a change!) and to say we were not disappointed would be an understatement.

Our starters included the house special: Tapas (Meses) and also that lovely clay oven baked bread with garlic butter, olives and strong strong cheese.

Our mains included Bream, cooked in the clay oven with vegetables, Chichen Kabab, a wonderful vegetarian casserole and my T Bone. All this lot came with a range of salad and vegetables side dishes.

None of us could manage a sweet!

We also had two rounds of drinks, including 3 glasses of the house white, which was the best wine we had tasted as a house choice.

As to the service and Salhil's personal attention was second to none, to top it off, the bill was very reasonable for the quality of the food and we had 10% discount just for mentioning the forum!

You will guess from the above that we enjoyed the night and I can promise you, I do not give such reviews unless I am pleased!

I would recommend that you visit this place, its location is superb and they will pick you up and drop you off for no extra charge.

Hope you find this review helpful, happy eating.

Kevin and Karen:D

After reading the good reviews for the Kings Garden we took my parents there for a meal. Service was great. Views lovely, but my meal was terrible....the mezes, or tapas as they call them were overpriced and poor, and the chicken sis was an inedible plate of chicken fat and gristle. In fairness, the meals served to everyone else were ok. They did offer to cook me another meal, but the mouthful of chicken fat had put me right off.
When the bill came we were surprised to see that they still charged me for the inedible meal....and yes, not liking to make a scene when my parents were with us, we paid and left.
I don't like to complain, its not in my nature but it has been years since i've come away from a restaurant feeling sick from the food and totally ripped of with the cost.

I  would just like to say a big thank you to Salih
We visited the Kings Garden last night. Our pick up was very punctual and my partner and I were greeted at Kings Garden with a very warm welcome by Salih
We decided to have the special set menu.
Our starters arrived within a short while and we eagerly tucked in. We were asked if we wanted to walk up to visit the tomb while our main course was being prepared. The views are absolutely terrific.
We descended the steps from the tomb and made our way back to our table.
Within a few minutes our main course arrived.
I had the beef and my partner the lamb. It was extremeley delicious. Piping hot and served in a clay pot. We had potatoes and rice accompanied by sliced peppers and vegetables.
The restaurant was fairly busy but the staff all worked very hard to make sure everyone was being attended to.
We had baklava for desert. By this time we were both full and declined the offer of tea or coffee.
Our transfer back to our apartment in Calis was also very efficient. The kind driver dropped us right outside our front door.
Well done to all at Kings Garden for making our night with you are truely unforgettable occassion.
I did extend my gratitude to Salih as we were leaving and told him that I would be posting my comments on the forum.
We are both looking forward to our next visit!!
I told Salih that I had marked his restaurant 10/10.

A party of four of us recently went also. We could not fault the staff and welcome, but for some reason we expected a much bigger place, not a problem but as they were so busy and full, it was not as comfortable for everyone as we had may have liked, but probably expected if the place is popular.
Food was good, but I would not say exceptional, and two of the main meals we felt were small portions compared to other places offering the same dish. Despite the (just small negatives) we would also return next time.

Went there today with friends.  The Sunday lunch was delicious.  Soup or garlic mushrooms, we had the mushrooms which were superb.  Main was chicken and beef with all the trimmings.  Desert was a lovely apple crumble with ice cream.  All for 15 Tl and the view across the bay for free.  Stuffed now.

Booking recommended as it was full today.

Twelve years ago Dogan wanted to try the Great British Roast dinner... It was so long ago I won't name the restaurant but suffice to say two plates of "processed meat" off a roll later, it has been 12 years to this day since we ventured out for a Sunday Roast dinner :)

Today we went to the King's Garden and both opted for the 3 course special roast dinner at a bargain 15TL per person.

Dogan enjoyed his home made tomato soup and I the mushrooms which were clearly fresh.

The roast dinners were nicely and artistically presented (an improvement on the photo in a previous post) and accompanied by roast and mash potato, 3 veg, 2 Yorkshires and of course the meat of our choice which was beef; horseradish served on the side and I pre-ordered extra gravy in a jug, because I like lashings of gravy on my spuds and Yorkshires.

I thought there was enough meat considering what else is served and taking into account that there are 3 courses.

We both had apple crumble and custard and although I was tempted to take mine home for later I managed to polish it off there instead.

All in all very tasty, plentiful and excellent value for money.

Lovely panoramic views of Fethiye too.

We were at the Kings Garden at the same time as Dogan and Nichola a couple of weeks back, and as Nichola says, the food was really nice.

There was plenty of it; we also had coffee and apple tea as we overstayed our welcome (typical of me!) as we were enjoying the music so much!   :)

Add in your free lifts to and from the restaurant and it was a very cheap, but thoroughly enjoyable, afternoon out!  We have already re-booked for quite a few dates for our next few visits - a lovely place to take family who are new to the Fethiye area!

Salih has worked hard over the winter months, and the restaurant looks great.  The chairs now look very regal, with "crowns" cut out of the back!  (Much nicer than I can make them sound, honest!)

Well done Salih - look forward to seeing you all again in June!   :)
