Not sure where to put this - looked at al the topics and couldn't decide.
Has anyone been to Ikea in Izmir? Can you tell me if it is cheaper, the same or more expensive than the UK?
Does it have the Markethall like the ones in the UK?
Can I use my IKEA family card anywhere in the world or just in the UK?
Was it easy to find? Am thinking of driving up and would hate to get horribly lost.
Thanks

It is definately more expensive than the UK - they have a web site - www.ikea.com.tr if you want to take a look & compare prices.
I haven't been but wouldn't mind some feedback if/when you do go :)

I heard the guy in J.J's has an Ikea Catalogue and will pick things up and bring them back. We are thinking of getting some new wardrobes when we are over and are going to go and see him.

Was there last week. Exactly same layout world wide. They will not take UK Family card but you can get a Turkish Aile Card (same).
Prices I thought were comparable still cheap...
Follow the signs off the Aydin to Izmir motorway to Canakkale(still motorway) and it's one of the first exits you see. Look for the Ikea and Kipa Sky signs on the right. Huge parking area as you have the Forum shopping area as well with Zara, Bodyshop and loads more shops. Good day out.
Takes 3.5 to 4 hours to drive there.

Ikea in Izmir is exactly the same as the ones in the UK. Market hall and everything else. The restaurant is much bigger and with better choices and they even do the hotdogs and ice creams.I found it easy to get there but my friend got lost. She paid a taxi driver 10TL to follow him lol. Great day out as there are other shops on the same complex. It is more expensive but I love Ikea and getting the stuff from J.J is very expensive. Better to order out of the catalogue and have stuff delivered direct from the catalogue. We bought all our smallish stuff home in the car. Which they pack for you unlike the UK. and had the bigger stuff deklivered, I think it was 75TL.

I'm not sure if it is still the case but I the guy at J.J's did add a fee of 20% on top to what ever you request.
-
Thanks everyone - yes JJs do collect stuff for a charge but I have a hankering for a browse round the market hall for those little homely touches - wine glasses, silly ice cube trays, cheap fying pans, storage jars, serviettes etc...... great news that there is a Forum Shopping Mall there too - can definitely feeling a road trip coming on :-)

Just looking a Izmir on Tripadvisor, thinking it might be worth going there and staying a couple of days and taking in Ikea.
Izmir looks like a nice place.

i love going to ikea in izmir,it is a good day out but tiring so if you can stay up there its better then you dont have to rush as all the other shops are nice aswell,i have done it a couple of times in a day but now i wait till we go and stay with family in aydin and then go there
it takes about 4 half 5 hours and remember the speed cameras the police are always on the road from here to aydin where you pick up the motorway
