Hi everyone,

My name is Rich and my wife Jenny thought we would introduce ourselves.  We currently live just outside Manchester, but who knows for how long!  We have no children, but we do have a number of pets.  We have been looking at this site regularly and have found it to be a fantastic source of information.  

We are planning to visit Fethiye in April, to begin looking for our dream home in the sun.  Although at first, it is to be a holiday home, we plan to retire there, in the not too distant future - we hope!

Thanks again to everyone here who, through they're information and advice, has helped us to make this giant decision.  We look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome richnjen, I have just had my first visit to the area, & bought a place for holidays/future retirement, let's just say, my expectations were exceeded, & I'm sure yours will be too. Good luck with your house hunting.

Hi Rich & Jen, I am from a little fishing village just outside of Manchester, called Liverpool !
You will love Fethiye, Calis, Olu Deniz, Ovacik, Kaya, etc. etc.

I know we are a persuasive lot around here, but to convince you to uproot and retire before you have even seen the place ? Don't worry though, it's a lovely part of the world made even better by the local people.

Good luck with the house hunting, make sure you look up Heidi & Keith.

Hi Rich and Jen, welcome to this forum; we don't live in a little fishing village outside Manchester but a little fishing village outside Portsmouth ( Emsworth - not as well known as Liverpool!). As you are probably aware most of the members of this site either have or are in the process of buying a property in the area. Good luck with your visit in April and hope you find something nice. By the way, we are out for two weeks next tuesday and can't wait!.

Welcome Rich & Jen from a Manc, born & bred in Gorton, but for last 20yrs i've lived just outside in a nice quiet place called Padfield near Glossop. As you have heard you will love Calis, I wish I'd bought when I first went, it would be paid for by now, as it is I'm happy with my 2 bed appartment. Alan

Wow !!! Hi to you all and thanks for the warm welcome!   :-\  With everyone being so enthusiastic, I know we're going to be making the right choice.  

Orange - As for the pets -  no arc required, just dogs, cats and a few fish.  Think the fish will be staying in rainy England though.

Welcome and good luck with your search for your dream home - I feel sure you will find it in the Fethiye area - it's a beautiful place.  We've just bought a place in Ovacik and will be going over to furnish it first 2 weeks in April and so if you are there then we may pass in the street!  I know what you mean about making a giant decision as we thought about it for years, but when it came to it and we saw our apartment we knew it was "the one" and we have had no regrets - not for 1 minute!

We live in a little village in Devon.
