Title: HSBC Bank Accounts
Post by: wend on March 19, 2011, 13:45:00 PM
Hi
Can someone please make things a bit clearer for me please,
I have a HSBC account here in England and also an HSBC account in Fethiye,
This was set up with the intention of us moving out there. However things did not work out.[|)] infact it got quiet messy to say the least,

Is it possible to transfer the money from my Fethiye a/c to the one in England using the internet banking system.

If i can
1. How do i set it up
2. Is there a limit i can transfer to England.
3. Is there costs involved ie tax to be paid or admin charge.
4. Will it be automatically converted from lira to sterling.

If i cannot then how can i get my money back to England.

Thank you for any replies

No it can't be done via internet banking, as the UK and Turkey systems are not connected. You would have to telephone HSBC Turkey and arrange a money transfer to your UK account but unless you have a Premier account you will incur money transfer charges (I'm unsure of the transfer fees). If your funds are in Lira in the Turkish account you would have to convert to sterling before transferring.
Hope this helps....

It can be done online using Swift, you will need the bank account details including the IBAN No that the monies will be paid into. The monies need to be converted into a sterling account. The limit for each transfer is £10,000 per day, and even with a Premier account it will cost around £15 for each transfer.

I transferred electroncally from the UK to my Turkish account in February. I did need both the IBAN number and SWIFT code but I did not incur any charges. I was not resticted to any limits by using electronic transfer.
