As Capello has now released 5 players including Terry, Lampard and Rooney from playing in the Ghana match, who will be Captain now?
Any money on Joey Barton?: :):D

Bart Simpson:D but who cares anyhow, rather watch paint dry ;)

Another meaningless friendly. Capello needs to go now!!!
-
Man City don't play meaningless friendlies at the start of the season then?
-
Not meaningless - it's to swell the FA's coffers!
-
Also to give fringe players a start and try new ideas which can't be done in competitiive matches, He is in a no win situation whatever he does as previous managers.
-
I agree Tinx - it's never really meaningless as long as we try things out for the future.

Pre -season is all about fitness Tinx:D
If England are to play friendlies then surely the FA could pick better teams than Ghana!!
-
pre season is about fitness, bedding in new players and putting into practice new tactics and set pieces learnt on the training field.

That would be Ghana, 2010 World Cup quarter finalists who came to within a missed penalty of making the semis Russ? I think if Ghana are to play friendlies then surely their FA could pick better teams than England!!!

Man City midfielder Gareth Barry to captain 'meaningless' international:D
-
That's a relief, I thought he might go for Heskey :D
-
Man City are a team of my past. Overpaid moaning gits who couldn't give a toss about the colour of shirt they wear just as long as they take home a kings ransom each week.
I get more enjoyment watching my lad play local football each Saturday and Sunday:D Unfortunately he's just begun a 35 day ban for getting Red Carded a couple of weeks ago :o
-
Scot Parker for capain if hes fit and picked.
-
Good call Tel :)
-
Yep I'd go for that too
-
It's Gareth Barry who was dropped two days ago.
-
Scott parker for me too, wish he was still at Chelsea ;)
-
That's sound logic....drop a guy for one game and make him captain for the next. I think Capello has lost the plot.

Ghana have sold 23000 tickets for this game and they could of sold a lot more its the largest away support at wembley since we played Scotland in the 90's
-
I tagged these thoughts onto the end of the Wales England thread a couple of days ago, but they are probably more relevant here

Tinks you're right on the sold out because of real football fans, in this case of the Ghanain variety, which is one of the best supported teams in the world. The FA usually struggle to fill wembley for a friendly, but with the Ghana team in town, I'm sure that the large Ghanaian population in London will be there in great numbers hence the sellout.
Which leads onto the fact that Ghana will be treating this game as far more important than just a friendly, as every team from a football emerging nation tends to do, beat England at Wembley, particularly team from the old British empire (for any sport that is!!). Which is another reason why that poor excuse for an England Manager should go with as much of the first choice team as possible, and not make wholesale changes from the Wales game. Well certainly not for the first 60 minutes or so. If he does I think we can look forward to a very competitive and enjoyable game.
And please don't get me started on Rooney needing a break this summer which is why he went for the yellow card. How many more breaks does he need, after the holiday break with the family in Dubai - post extra marital brass bashing - then time at Camp Nike, then the continuing injury lay off, I recokn he's had more time off than Sicknote Anderton
