Title: Hairdresser?
Post by: jacqki on April 10, 2011, 19:17:42 PM
Its a long story but I now have to come out to Uzumlu on Friday without having had my hair done! Can anyone recommend a decent hairdresser for trim and colours?

Hi Jacqki

I've never seen any women in Ramazans!!! If you are looking for colours, there is a lady at Gunlukbasi I can recommend - if you got off the dolmus before it turns left at the traffic lights, she is just down the road opposite, with a wella hair sign. Doesn't speak too much English, bu is very good. Dont think there is anyone in Uzumlu for ladies colours........ even just a ladies cut.... would be good if I was proved wrong!!

Thank you Loubylou (& Calvin). I wasn't expecting there to be one in Uzumlu itself I'm quite happy to go to Fethiye or wherever but just wondered if there was a hairdresser that you all could recommend. Thank you

Agree the one opposite the Mulberry tree is excellent. I go in looking like Worzel Gummidge on a bad hair day and he sends me out with sleek shining hair which is well cut and healthy. A pure genius. I go to the one with short hair he is fantastic. Think it is called A.C.& S or similat.

I also use A S and C They are very professional, but please dont take my hair on my profile pic as an example of their work! That pic was taken in the UK

Thanks to Daffodil, Rosy & Julesp. I will be hot footing it down to A S & C to give them a try. I actually look worse than Worzel Gummidge at the moment but it sounds like there is a modicum of hope for me. Thank you all

Jules you are the first lady to have a picture, all of the other ladies who recommend hairdressers on this website do not have avatars so we have no way to judge how good the hairdressers are.  It's the one thing I have not done in Turkey (go to a hairdresser) ever since I was having a pedicure and watched an Irish girl have her hair done for her wedding and I could not believe how 1980's it looked, it totally put me off ever getting my hair done in Turkey.

I have long blond hair and used to have my highlights and cut done at AS and C when I lived in Turkey.I have it  more sleek than bouffant. The hairdresser has worked for very rich Russians clients and his work is excellent,in fact both hairdressers there are very good. I would sit in the salon and watch as people were transformed with a good cut. My daughter in England worked for Toni and Guy and agreed. I am sure there are other hairdressers who are good in the area as well, trial and error really to find one. Take a photo of what you would like, same as England. Good luck. They used to give me a manicure and pedicure at the same time!Meant flipping around in a pair of little slippers but it was worth it.

Whilst staying in France for a few months I really missed AS and C, the French hairdressers cut ok but hardly any of them were good at colour. I was living in a rural area  in the Loire Valleythough. Women there were desperate for a well trained English hairdresser.

O.K. Daffodil, but we all demand a picture, because your hair sounds lovely and your hairdresser seems fabulous... So what are you waiting for[?]

It's on the one way street with all the banks just passed Fortis Bank on the left hand side.  There is a little street that you cross to it.  In that street opposite the Mulberry is a really nice shop owned by an English lady (Linda) It's called Hippy Chic.  She makes and sells her own jewellery and greetings cards.   Don't miss it, her stuff is lovely and very reasonably priced. ;)

Called into AS & C yesterday on a friends recommendation and am more than happy with the results. Hair washed, cut and blowdried to my style already (not eighties I might add) and all for 20tl!! I pay in excess of £40 plus for the same in the UK! Well worth a visit.

I was pleased with both of the hairdressers in the salon. They understood what I was asking for when I spoke in English but I do speak some Turkish.
PS I don't know how to put an Avatar on the forum Jacquie.I did manage it when it was a picture of the Dolphin though!

that might be a good news for us  ;))

I talked to barber Ramazan about why we have no hair-dresser here in the village, to hair cut at least when we need it urgent...and he thought an interesting idea that he knows anyone, she has a new baby so can not go to work to Fethiye at the moment...she will able to work a day/week at the barber shop only for ladies with her own equipments...

our thoughts will be importand for him to request that job to her...
am looking forward the ladies' mind to pass him ???

loves to everyone,
Neylan

hi all I have had my hair done at a few places in both hisaronu and fethiye but find not many of them highlight hair the same way the english hairdressers do. I have two colours in my hair when I have it highlighted and in england they always highlight the hair backwards along the parting and then down each of the sides. Here in Turkey they seem to do the back first and then go up each side until the get to the middle of the parting. This would be fine if I was having one colour but they tend to finish with one colour highlight on one side of my parting and another on the other side or finish with a bleach blond on both sides which makes my hair look blonder than normal! Anyone know any hairdressers who trained in UK or do it the same as they do in UK? Thanks for any help!  :)

Had a very good cut done in KoaforNail in Fethiye.  The chap with the pony tail did it.  Next time I got a chap who may have been the plumber, because he knew nothing about hair.  I haven't been back since.

If you want an English hairdresser, Village Gossip in Ovacik had one last year. She may still be there or at Goldfinger in Ovacik. 6167383
