Last year we hosted the Thursday art class run by Lesley at the Mozaik Bahce.
The group grew and grew from 7ish to almost twenty people and now there are 3 art classes running each week.
This year we will host the contemporary art class and also offer the artists the opportunity to display and sell original paintings at the restaurant.
Classes at the Mozaik Bahce in 2011 start
Monday 2nd May
10.30 - 12.30ish
Cost 10TL and includes one tea or coffee and a cake or savoury - varies week to week
Note - we will not be taking commission on painting sales or charging the artists to display their work.
-
I forgot to mention that beginners are welcome at any of the art classes.
Monday - Mozaik Bahce Fethiye (from May 2nd)10.30 - 12.30pm ish
Wednesday - Seril Hotel Calis 2 - 4pm ish
Thursday - The Mulberry Tree Fethiye 10.30 - 12.30pm ish
Lesley will supply painting materials initially to get you started and can recommend where to buy canvas, brushes and paints ect.
-
Everyone attending the classes was a "beginner" but as a measure of how far everyone has come on with their painting
...we have already started showing contemporary art by the "art students" at the restaurant and last week I sold 3 paintings :)
-
This is brilliant, one of the things on my wishlist when I had time was learning to paint, so this is really exciting, can't wait!
-
If you are a beginner thinking of coming along tomorrow, don't worry you won't be the only one coming along for the first time :D
-
I thought you might like to see the results of todays art class.

As some of you that attend the class already may know Lesley is away until Wednesday so won't be at the class tomorrow; Monday 30th May.
I know some of you are planning to skip class while the teacher is away but if you were planning to come along and it is still raining then please don't come tomorrow morning. There just isn't room inside for everyone.
Topic for tomorrows contemporary class where ever you are painting is "summertime"...
Thanks :)

Nichola, Ive been wanting to join the art classes since they started last year but have been too busy with FiG ever since! Now I think i have Mondays covered with enough volunteers in the shop so I dont have to work then, I havent touched a paintbrush since I was at primary school and I am not saying how long ago that was, but it was quite a while back! :-\ Will I feel like the dunce of the class if i start to attend?

Jules I could do with a fellow dunce in the class, please come!
I hope H does come back on Monday,it was lovely to meet him. His picture turned out really well, he has hidden talents I think.
My little sis loved it and cant wait til she comes over again.
-
Jules I see you are on line are you coming today [?]
Saw H tonight and not quite sure I persuaded him to come along for an encore but could tell he was tempted ;)
-
There is a change of venue for the art class this Monday 4th July.
We are going to Kaya. Meeting time 11am end time open ended.
Anyone (plus partners if you want) is welcome to join us there and you will find us at the Saric which is up a little lane past the white water fountain on your left as you pass the official entrance to the ruins.
The food at the Saric is reportedly very nice and reasonable prices.
You will be free to wander off, take photos, paint pictures and eat elsewhere if you prefer.
By the way H made a very late appearance at the art class on Monday, just as we were packing up actually - he had a late night at burlesque or something ;)

Hi Been very busy again one way or another! Ok, Do you know the Kaya bus times to get up there Would love to meet forum members too
-
Jules I am not sure when the bus runs but I think there is one an hour from Fethiye via Ovacik and Hisaronu - where abouts do you live maybe someone could give you a lift - there are a couple of other people without cars so some sharing will be necessary.
Maybe people who are going with a car and some space can post on here and we can sort something out.
I live on the border of Karacula, will be going on the Saturday market road and can go via Tasyaka and probably via Hisaronu if this helps anyone.
If you get there I am sure a lift home will be no problem at all.
-
Hello everyone :D I am skiving class today...
Anyway I did think you might like to know that on Wednesday this week you will have the opportunity to see (and buy if you want) a selection of the amazing work of some of the artists who attend the art classes
Top selling artisit this year so far are Patsy Yates and Lesley Robinson and they will both have their work on display.
Fi who can turn out the perfect painting in five minutes and Eric who a couple of weeks ago painted the most amazing scene "on black" will also be there with their wonderful work.
So where is there... there is the FIG Craft Fayre Wednesday 13th July, starting later than normal because of the sizzling heat - for more information simply follow this link...

The art classes on the following days and times are temporarily suspended due to searing heat, cloying humidity and the mass migration to the UK to avoid it :o
Monday - Mozaik Bahce Fethiye (from May 2nd)10.30 - 12.30pm ish
Wednesday - Seril Hotel Calis 2 - 4pm ish
Thursday - The Mulberry Tree Fethiye 10.30 - 12.30pm ish
When classes resume you can be sure to read about it here 8)

Was just wondering if these have been revived.
-
Good question H :D
There is currently one class I have been told, now running and this is at the Mulberry Tree on Thursdays - usual time.
I believe last week was the first class for the winter season so if you didn't know you haven't missed much :)

Why?
-
Because, there maybe members, including some new members, who will be visiting in the winter months and who may wish to take up an activity which involves something other than trying to get 15 small balls into one of six pockets with a thin piece of wood or trying to hit a round bit of sisal with three small pointy thingies.
Is that a reasonable enough answer to your dubious question.
-
I was inquisitive as to why you wanted to know
-
Now that would be telling.

Just to let people know, last week Chris made some doughnuts for the art class, they were simply gorgeous, hope she is doing some this week. It is a new line for her and is as delicious as her other cakes are. Not good news for them with a sweet tooth and a weight problem!!! But fabulous for them who enjoy life's little luxuries. Thanks Chris.
