Title: Pookies in peril
Post by: pookie on May 12, 2011, 17:41:32 PM
Scunner : I hope you forgive me - I don't usually like asking people for support, but this is such a worthy cause, and will undoubtedly result in lots of pain and blisters for not only the Pookies but a mad team of 28 intrepid walkers, so I hope you don't mind me posting a plea.

We are organising a 24 hour Peak Challenge (Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon) in June.  28 members of staff are taking on this cruel challenge in aid of our local Children's hospice.  Our team target is to reach £10,000.  EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices) is an amazing charity that is very close to my and Mr Pookie's heart, and Lottie our daughter has had the privilege of working closely with the team there for the past year or so.  We are desperate to help raise funds and awareness for the wonderful support and facilities that the charity provides.  If you have a few pennies lying around and wish to donate them to a very worthwhile cause, please take two minutes to visit our just giving website.   http://www.justgiving.com/Team-PeakPractice/.    Every penny helps, and with only a few pounds a real difference can be made for some of these amazingly brave and wonderful children.

If you could help us reach our target, we would be really grateful.   Thank you for taking the time to read this - I'm now off to soak my feet in vinegar and dubbin up the boots !!

Thank you xxx Mr and Mrs Pookie xxxxx

All three peaks are done in a 24 hour period......[xx(]  We start evening 24th June.  Ben Nevis is the first one before travelling over night to Scafell, which we start climbing before dawn on 25th...then on to Snowdon later that day.   As the team will be split into varying degrees of experience and fitness, it is hard to give exact timings yet.  Who thought up this stupid idea any way....??!!!

Its getting close now......one week to go.
We have already raised £5000, of our £10,000 target.  Thanks to everyone for their kind generosity.  The boots are out, worn in and the blister treatment packed........!   if anyone would still like to send a few pennies our way, please feel free to do so !!  All funds raised are for EACH (East Anglia's Childrens Hospices) which is just the most amazing charity.  EACH provide care and support for families who have children with life-threatening conditions or complex health care needs.  Every penny raised goes to providing short break cares, specialist play activities, music therapy, hydrotherapy, parent groups, sibling groups, care at the end of life and bereavement support for all family members.   Thank you  The Pookies xxx
