As the 3C's were unable to stage the Calis Carnival photography competition this year as we were unable to find a sponsor, and we did not want to wish to use any of the hard earned funds which are allocated for the children, we have decided to ask forum members to submit their favourite photographs of the Calis area to us for use in the 2012 Calis Children's Charity Calendar. These could be views, or pictures of fond memories or anything else that is specific to Calis area.
The photographers of the 12 selected photgraphs will all receive a certificate and a small prize and be named in the calendar .
If you wish to send us a photograph please do so either through my profile on this forum or at info@caliscarnival.com Please can you make sure that this is sent as a file rather than a compressed picture in order for us to produce the best quality photograph. Happy Snapping!!!!! :D
-
On the question of calenders can I ask do you need permission to produce one - to sell and if so from whom?
I realise that your calender being used to raise money for charity may be exempt.
-
Hi Nichola, the answer to that one is yes. The 3C's are able to do so as we are one of only two charities recognised and working legally uder the umbrella of FETAV Foundation (the other local charities including Animal Aid and Embrace have opted to work under either ourselves or Fethiye International Group). Because of this we have been able to produce a charity calendar for the last 3 years.
-
that is a fantastic idea Chrissie, I am not the best photographer but I have seen some great pics from other members that would look fab on a calendar I really look forward to getting my calendar every year :)

For us this thicko Chrissie can you explain what you mean by a file.:(
-
Sorry I meant a high resolution photograph. I am no techi either but i understand that if you click the attachments button and add a photo to your e-mail, it attaches the photo as a file rather than if you just click the photo button and add it from there. By adding a photo as a file it does not compress them and they retain their high resolution which is what we need when using them for a professional print job. I am sure someone out there will be able to verify this or put me right if I am wrong :D
-
A big, big thanks to Scunner, he has just told me that CBF will kindly sponsor the prizes for the calendar photo competition :D

Just had our first picture sent and it is very good.
This competition will be open for several weeks so that it allows holidaymakers to send in their pictures.
We will then get a panel to judge which 12 photos will be most suitable for the calendar and will then contact those who have been successful.
As advised previously Keith has kindly said that CBF will sponsor the prizes which is great and we cannot thank him enough, but the best prize of all must be having your picture chosen and seeing it published :)
-
What a kind man you are Keith. XX
-
we have decided to close the photo competition on 1 August so you have until then to submit your photos. We will then be able to get the winning photos selected and get the calendar printed before the end of season so that holidaymakers can take one (or more ;)) home as a souvenier of the area.
We await your photos please :D
-
Has there been a big entry to the competition.
-
Not yet H, but there is still 2 months to go so I am sure we will have lots of photos to choose from by then :)
-
Thanks for the reply Pi55Y.
That being the case, I might venture in another.
-
How much does it have to be around the Calis area? I have some great pics but they are further away, can I have some kind of guidance as to distance please, thanks.
-
We are looking for Calis/Fethiye area but don't forget that Fethiye goes out a long way and includes Kaya, Seki, Kargi, Yaniklar and Uzumlu :)
-
Thanks for the reply, sadly mine are too far away!
-
We are still waiting for more photos for our calendar competition please. There is still a month left to enter your photos of the Calis/Fethiye area. Please can you e-mail these as high resolution jpeg photos to info@caliscarnival.com (or e-mail me through the forum) as they will need to be good quality for printing. The closing date is 1 August. After that 12 photos weill be selected for this years 3C's charity calendar which we hope to get printed by early September so that people can take them home as a souvenier of their holidays. There will be a small prize kindly provided by Scunner and CBF. Thanks :D

-
Thanks really glad to be back :D
-
Hi all.
I am trying to send a picture from a disc - properties say that picture is 640 x 480 pixels (whatever that means). Unfortunatley, Chrissie tells me that it would be too small if chosen.
Any ideas.
-
Hi H,
I had that problem with a few of my snaps - unfortunately nothing you can do - the source image is simply too small to be sharp enough when printed at the size needed for the calender.
Whilst you can enlarge the image, you cant put in detail that isn't in the source (unless you work for CSI Miami of course).

sounds like a resized image - do you have the original full resolution anywhere?
-
IanK, Nichola - thanks both - have tried re-sizing. If it doesn't work hey-ho it won't be a disaster. :)
-
We will be sorting through the photographs in the next few days and then after consulting with the publisher to see which will reproduce ok for the calendar will contact the winning photographers :)
