In an effort to raise much needed dosh for the kids wot need it around Calis, we are teaming up with the Calis Children's Charity and one of their great supporters, antiques expert Jacqui Harvey for an antiques valuation hoot.
The idea is that members can send photos of one of their treasured possessions of a certain age to me at keith at calisbeach.com and for a small fee of minimum £5, Jacqui will offer information and a vaulation. All monies will go to the Calis Children's Charity.
As a bit of fun, those who don't have a Rembrandt or a Chippendale can play our side game of "The Price is Right" - make a donation of a fiver (or more, don't let my suggestions restrict your generosity) and each pound gets you a guess at the price of the items before Jacqui gives her expert valuation. So if you pay a fiver you can have a guess on five items, or five guesses on one item if you are a bit bonkers!
Nearest guess on each item wins half the pot, the other half going on to the total for the charity. It's a bit like our exchange rate guessing game of a few weeks back but raising a few quid in the process - it could be fun 8)
Let me know if that is all clear before we start - once it is I'll give details on how to play and how to send the cash :)

Sounds fun! Jacqui is a great support of the CCC. Well done to you both for this gesture. Must go look out my Cartier collection!!!!!
:D

Just to be clear on items that can and can't be valued by photographs - Jacqui cannot value Jewellery or Oriental Vases accurately this way; If pottery or china is sent she will need an extra image of the marks on the base. If silver items are sent she would need an image of the silver hallmark too. Ivory is not possible as more modern ivory cannot be sold.
Anything else is fine i.e. Pottery, Porcelain, Furniture, Mirrors, Glassware, Wooden Items, Curios, Silver. etc.,

I think it is a great idea and one that we really do thank Jacqui for as it was her suggestion. Also a huge thanks to Keith for agreeing to administer the roadshow.

Ok folks we will use the Paypal account that we had for last years T shirts so you need to go here to pay - all is explained.

To recap, if you have something you would like valued, that will be done with all the money going to the Calis Children's charity - we are asking for £5 as a minimum donation for that - feel free to donate more if you wish.
For our "Price is Right" game, it is £1 per guess, minimum a fiver (so 5 guesses) - no maximum ;)
-
My Paypal account still refers to our School computer fundraiser, please ignore that - I can't see where I need to change it.
PLEASE CHOOSE 'GIFT' as transaction type, or the charity will lose around 7% of the fivers in Paypal fees. Gifts are fee free.
ALSO: Feel free to send any amount as a donation to help the great causes the committee help to fund. I'll see it all gets passed straight through

If you have a Paypal account, just click the "Donate" button:
If you don't have a paypal account still click the "donate" button and look for the "Don't have a Paypal account?" part as shown (but on the Paypal page, not the example on the page above).
Any questions please just shout :)

Hi Scunner , thanks for the payment options... If I want to play the price is right.. should I just do the same as above?
ie; make a donation to the paypall.

Yes indeed, all payments are sent the same way. I will get notification almost immediately and can confirm on here when payments arrive. I may not do it too quickly tomorrow as we are moving, but I will as soon as I can.

Yes that is right, tomorrow we have Lot 1 - I am moving house and can't keep too much of an eye on things today and this can be a big fund raiser and great fun if we do it right. So tomorrow, I hope to start it, doing it right :D

Keith has now posted the picture of the first lot on the main Calis Beach thread - so time to start guessing :D
