Some of the 3C's charity went to the opening night of Sun Camp Beach Club in Koca Calis on Monday evening.
Owners Birol and Claire Gianioglu have taken over what I believe used to be known as Madam Dudu's, right next to the Surf Cafe. They have been working hard on the premises and have now opened a lovely 48 seater restaurant which has a really nice atmosphere. The restaurant is set in large grassed grounds with walks down to the beach and sea where they will opening their new beach cafe for snacks and drinks this weekend.
It is a really nice place for a day relaxing in the sun (or shade) or for a nice evening meal. The food that we sampled was excellent and we wish Birol and Claire all the best in their new venture :D.

Was Claire once involved in the property business, our original next door neighbours were called Claire & Birol. They moved out several years ago and we did see Claire on a TV programme shown over here in the UK some time ago. It would be nice to see them again

Yes that is them George - two of the loveliest people I met in the Fethiye area. I worked with Birol for a while and he's an amazing guy. If your ex-neighbour looked like Poirot then this is them!! Claire was Sunmed Homes - I know quite a few CBFers are customers of hers. I wish them every success, I'm sure it will be.

Yes, I know Claire too - a lovely lady who was hoping to open a kennels in Incirkoy. I must pop down to see her soon - thanks for the heads up!

Is this place easily accessible from Surf Cafe- using the Dolmus I mean. Surf sounds to be getting overcrowded so was contemplating an alternative.
-
Yes Cavfan, its more or less next door to the Surf Cafe and well signposted. Formerly Miss Du Dus.
Thank you Badger.LOL

Hi Chrissy
Now that I'm finally a member of the forum just want to say a very BIG THANK YOU to you and Peter and everyone from the Calis Carnival Committee who came to one of our opening nights. Thanks so much for your support and many thanks too for your lovely post. Its an exciting time for us with an element of nostalgia for Birol because 30 years ago in 1981 he organised one of the first campsites in Olu Deniz with the same name!
The setting is fabulous as you know and from the 1st July the beachfront snack restaurant and bar will be officially open too with free sunbeds, plenty of shade and only soft background music!
Anyway thanks very much again and hope to see you both soon!

The opening evenings have been and gone. There were 3 last week.
-
we were going to go there last week, strolled down, 4 men sitting at a table, 1 man behind a bar and no one acknowledged us so we left.
Mind you, we were invisible that day,had appalling service and a row at Surf cafe & then waited 10 mins for someone to acknowledge us in the Birlik, got bored and left.
Gave up on the idea of lunch and had a drink at the Mozzie bar, who brought us a bowl of crisps when we told them what had happened!

See you in July Claire/Birol

There is a really good review of Sun Camp restaurant in this weeks Land of Lights - however it appears that the beach bar/cafe itself was opening at the weekend, a little later than planned, so apologies to anyone who went down during the week :-\
-
Yeah but what happenned to the Sun Camp? LOL
Maybe they could have placed a notice of opening for the local inhabitants as when I spoke to the owner he said May 15th which was impossible.Featured in the topic changes at "Koca Calis" section.
Glad its sort of opened now and they do well. Lets hope next door gets sorted out,"The Sunset Garden Beach Club" etc
