Peter Falk, the American actor most famous for his role as TV's scruffy detective, Columbo, has died at the age of 83.

Really sad news that, I loved Columbo and the way he used to involve the comments from his wife (who I din't think we ever saw) when questioning the suspects.

Oh great! youre a ray of sunshine! I loved Columbo in fact watched Murder by Death last weekend on one of the cable channels I think- pure class! Fantastic cast and was only thinking it was Peter Falk at his best . Mind you 83- not bad considering those cigars he chewed on !

Sad news indeed. Over the years his Colombo character never seemed to age and charmed us all.

It was such a shame he had alzheimer's and his daughter went to court against her step Mother to get control of his affairs, She did not win.  This was a couple of years ago.  It seems that he could not even remember playing Colombo.  I was just reading that a couple of dental operations he had started off his memory problems!!  Scary.....
