sounds silly, but i always ask the price before i commit myself then there are no nasty surprises.
once again if you have a bad experience you won't go back and if you post it on here you can be sure they will lose a lot of clients.

On the subject of prices, we were surprised to see that the sundial now charges guests 10tl each to use the jacuzzi, even if you are staying there!
We are regular diners, often taking groups of friends but feel this is a bit steep !

I am a little suprised about the Sundial too, if you were not eating there or anything then fair enough but surely not if you are staying there:(

Was in a popular restaurant the other night and had a bottle of wine, then due to unforseen circumstances ordered 4 more glasses of wine.
The 4 glasses of wine was 8 tl more than the bottle and that was Kavak.

Just check it.
Nefes Pide and Melodi give a good measure for the cost.

Last time I was in UK, 3 or 4 years ago I remember paying 6 pounds for a normal glass of wine or is my memory going. I also think I recently read a report on the airport cost as well.

Hi folks!

We have just returned from beautiful Fethiye after ten days of hot Turkish sunshine. To help cool us down, each day we visited Tansas and purchased a 1 litre bottle of Kavak for sale at 12tl which is £4.80.

That's under a fiver for a litre bottle!!!

Shove it in the freezer for half an hour and it's purfect - I should know - we've just done it for the last ten nights  ;)

Home now :(

My son was in Malta last year and said it had gone really expensive.  Although they enjoyed themselves he said he was really surprised how quickly his money was spent :o  He though Turkey was much cheaper. ;)

Also re public jacuzzi's, wild horses would not get me in one after reading an article in the newspaper about them.  If you want more information Google it.   Seems amongst other things, people pee in them all the time and that's not the worst thing found in them!! :-\

Guy at work has just returned from holidaying at the Hillside beach

club.Drinks were only inclusive at meal times, outside of these the price of an Efes was £ 9.00  :o

Not my idea of AI ( If the holiday was promoted as an AI)

Makes the 4-5 lira Efes seem like a bargain  :)

Maybe Hillside was full board - they do the same at Lykia World - drinks only with meals.

Do you think Turkey is in some kind of time warp untouched by the world economic crisis or that inflation somehow passes us by.

Average price for a glasss of wine 6-7TL £2.75
Spirits with mixer are around 8TL £3

I for one don't think that is too bad

Sorry to correct you, but my daughter is a Therapist at Hillside, and said the price of Efes is 9 ytl not pounds. Still expensive I know, but considering the cost of a room is about 300 euros a night, it seems relative.

No one can tell me turkey is expensive.Came back from the uk in jan. After 3 weeks of paying london prices for food and drink.2pints of beer and a large vodka and coke 18 pounds. No sea view,no table service,no friendly smiles as you watch the world go by.Only cheap meals are witherspoons and harvester rests. All other places on average 100 pounds for 2 people 3 courses and wines.Rhodes is no cheaper same as most euro trips. Also remember no strict measure controls on the spirits here try buying a treble vodka and coke  for less than 3 pounds any where else.

But if prices rise 50% (because we will pay it) from where they are now, that will be a different story.

Why do you think prices will go up by 50%?

The problem with putting up prices by 50% because "we will pay for it" is that nobody realises that we only pay for it till we find somewhere better to holiday. Greece took the mick for years, now it is in trouble you can see that hotel, holiday, beer, car hire prices have had to plummet to get people to go.

The lesson to learn now is the basic sales training principle we all yawned at because it is so bleedin' obvious - that it is far, far easier and cheaper to keep your current customers happy, than it is to go out and find new ones.

Hillside is Fullboard plus and repeat guests get a discount off their bar bill.   Once you have been there 4 times it's 30%.   Can't afford to go now I live here but have spent many a happy holiday there.

I really don't mind bars and restaurants making a living by applying healthy profit margins to earn a living but like many others I don't like being ripped off. If I come across somewhere that charges premium prices without offering good value for it then I vote with my feet.

I won't go to acertain bar any longer due to this fact. Years ago I used the place a great deal and often there could be ten of us in there together. We quickly realised that the prices were out of step with other places and we felt the measures did not match the premuim prices. We all went elsewhere having explained to the owners why. I have no idea if things are better now but thats just how it works. Sooner or later the lack of business to match their inflated prices will force them to change.

But to put things into context, its not as if they are all running around in Ferrari's is it? Turkey still represents great value for money compared to a lot of other popular holiday destinations.

We decided to start having our CBF summer meet up nights in one bar on the front and in the first week they pulled a fast one. Normally fairly empty, around 15 of us met up and all seemed to go well. The next day, someone who was there came to see us because they were leaving that night and by chance in the conversation that they had paid our bill when they left. That was news to me as we paid our bill an hour later when we left too!

The owner blamed a misunderstanding yet point blank refused to refund the money. So for 70 TL one off chance to cheat money, they lost a whole summer of CBF meet ups. These are often the same people who complain that they have never known it so quiet. As regulars on CBF know, I'll pay the going rate but once ripped I will NEVER go back. Hope you enjoyed the 70 TL guys...

One of the things to always look our for is when you are at bar for the evening and having several drinks is the rapidly diminishing spirit measures.
