We'll be in Fethiye start of July and have a really small budget..
We have two small children and want to eat healthily and as authentically as possible.
Last time I found:
Small Pide place in arcade near public toilets near the beach
Mosaic
Small cafe on corner near Fish Market
Any other recommendations please?
(no burger n chips places or overbearing staff please)
-
Pasha kebab :P! on one way system near hsbc very good at reasonable prices :)!
-
Samdan restaurant in the pedestrianised road between ING bank & the mosque in the old part of Fethiye
-
newish Birlik opposite yapi kredi bank on the migros road, fresh food daily and generous portions.very child friendly

Is it Fethiye specific, or do you want some recommendations for Calis Beach?
-
Do try the fish boats on the front. Fish in bread with salad 5TL. Delicious!
-
Any Lokanta, great wholesome food, at very reasonable prices, e.g. spicy lentil soup with free salad & bread 4 Lira, can't go wrong !.
-
Lokanta's anywhere are really good value for money...
-
We always visit the Sahil Lokantasi next to the big Migros - great food and very reasonable. I understand there is another Sahil on that road which isn't next to Migros - that one is said to be a rip off.
-
We only discovered Lokantas this year (or should that be we've seen them but never tried them). Great value for money and everything we tried we enjoyed.
-
without appearing too dim what is a lokanta please is it a kebab shop[?]many thanks :)
-
You're not dim Karen, we didnt know either! Now someone may correct me on this but we were told Lokanta just means restaurant which is why you see different names in front of 'Lokanta'. I don't know whether this is for different places where the lokantas are situated or something else - but as I said, someone may correct me! :)
-
Often you can see a wide variety of the meals on offer behind a glass cabinet Karen, you'll know the sort of place I'm sure.
-
Their menus are usually quite limited, as most of what is on offer are dishes of the day ie made from ingredients that are good & cheap at the time
-
We tend to steer clear of food that is kept 'just tepid' for hours on end....I think it's called 'salmonella stew'....a sure fire way to end up with the old Turkey Trots!
Also, sorry but I think Pasa Kebab is a bit on the pricy side - there are certainly cheaper places where a family on a budget could find a cheap nourishing meal.
-
We eat in the lokantas often and have never once had stomach problems.
We actually prefer them to the places on the front where it's steak, steak and steak again with a different sauce.
-
Served with chips rice and salad.
-
Back to the plot, if you are eating out in Fethiye try the Mozaik Bahçe authenity healthy food at really good prices. My daughter was so taken with the place and could not get over how cheap the food was and what big helping she got. In Calis Beach try the Amber Pide opposite the Tugay Hotel.
-
If you pass the Megri at the entrance to Pas partur on the right hand side before you get to Pasa is an authentic Turkish place ,painted orange outside ,reall good food, great attentive staff and reasonable prices.

It depends what your budget is....there are kebab places all around that serve good kebabs / wraps for a couple of lire. Pasa Kebab (on the Fetiye ring road), is a step up from that - fab kebabs, excellent mezes and salads. My husband and I ate there a lot at Easter (its a favorite of ours), and the most expensive meal worked out at about £17.00 for the two of us, starters, kebabs, salads, bread and a couple of beers. We think it is excellent value. Also recommend Mozaik Bahce as has already been mentioned. Sahil Lokanta next to Migros, also a good reliable bet.

Eating on a budget in Calis just has to be Frank Cannon's (actually called Gunislik or something similar) - it is owned by a guy who looks a lot like Frank Cannon. They do brilliant easy food from egg & chips to doner etc, and their set menus are unbeatable value - like chicken doner meat & chips with a beer for 15 Lira (I don't know the prices but you get the idea). It is located on the main bridge road, cross over the bridge from the prom and it is on the left hand side about half way up.
Even when the prom is deserted, Frank is busy.

Senai. is the waiter there. Been there for years. Aka Mike. He is a lovely and funny bloke. Their chicken casserole topped with cheese. Chips (best anywhere) and fresh salad. Beer a glass of wine or soft drink and garlic bread starter is 17TL. I didnt realise that the place we have been eating at all this time was Frank Cannons. lol. They do childrens meals as well.
-
Pasa kepab and Megri although excellent are not that cheap. (Not for us locals anyway). Sahin Lokanta is the best in our opinion but there prices have gone up a lot recently. I know places that do chicken half bread with lots of salad and 2 drinks for 5TL.Kral is a good price and the place that Liz goes to Sahbinden? Turn right at ING bank and it is on there. There are lots lokantas and restaurants that the local use on those side roads in Fethiye. Not as fancy as some places but very good food never the less.
-
omg Frank Cannons donner is the best! Especially at 3am! their chips are handcut and cooked fresh - its a fave of ours even worth us prom wallers venturing over the bridge for!
-
Must have walked past this place hundreds of times and never noticed it!! One to look out for next visit I think :D

There are 2 One either side of Migros Which one is your preference? because I like the one near to Migros exit, others seem to prefer the one on the Migros entrance side near Hamish Mr Turk, I only went that one once and thought it expensive
Theres a place that sells Koftes and the like behind the main PTT in Fethiye Very reasonably priced But easy to miss
-
The one on the Migros entrance side we like.
-
Same here.
-
Must agree about the Gunislik in Calis, superb !, there are a row of great Lokantasi opposite the Otogar, "The Gar 1 & 2" and my personal favourite "The Seckin", great food very reasonably priced also the added bonus of being open 24 hours, should you ever fancy a bowl of lentil soup at 4 am that is !!!:D
-
We tried Gunislik for the first time in June and ate there twice.
Good food, very reasonable prices and friendly staff 8)

cafe soul and bella mamas best prices in çaliş we always go them 2 restaurants with my wife excellent value for money
-
Can't agree about Bella Mama it's a great restaurant and lovely food, but I would not call it budget?
-
yeh agree with jaqui, nice food but not that :) cheap
-
Fish chips and mushy peas 10L at Oykanus on the seafront, great views but not exactly authentic Turkish cuisine.
-
Though Bella Mamas lunchtime specials are more in the budget category
-
"Special" at the Roka, soup to start and main meal delicious food and very reasonably priced at 10 TL. :)
-
Please don't take it as gospel but we were in Bella Mamas last week and I seem tio remember that many main course were under 20 tl.
And it is a superbly run establishment :)
