It depends on how you are getting your money. If you are using a 0% fee debit card (Visa backed) to withdraw at ATMs you will be charged the rate that applies at the time you are billed by the Turkish bank. This is usually the next day so the charge will reflect the rate set at US close of business today. If you had taken money out yesterdy you would have got 2.608 TL to the pound. Obviously I can't tell you today's exchange until tomorrow. Given today's increase in the value of £ against TL I would expect it to be higher - perhaps 2.62.

If you are exchanging cash rates vary from banks and PTT, to reputable change agents, to that nice man who calls out to tourists passing by on the street.

Unfortunately the `con man` will always be able to prey on newbies to the area who dont know his history and tactics  :(  us on the forum who are aware of him are few in numbers compared to all those first timers who walk past his shop every day...  he cant lose [:(!]

I think you have hit  the nail on the head there Sleuth the con man in the picture has been opperating in Fethiye main street for 20 years that i know of and he is sadly not the only one. These con men only steal from tourists so the authoritys dont seem to care it is almost an honerable trade in Fethiye area.I bet hes an adult education teacher part time on how to rip off tourists. If CBF members want to do something about it another campaingn like Free the dolphins will be needed.

I have been offline for a couple of weeks and find on my return that the lira has moved to 2.85 to the pound (and beyond) as predicted by me back on Feb 9th. Only, minor, problem being that I got a little too carried away and predicted this to happen three and a half months too early!
