Title: Sweltering Weather In Scotland
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on July 24, 2011, 18:47:45 PM
Just returned from a weekend in Pitlochry.  I have to say the weather was wonderful very, very, hot.  Our Hotel had an outside and inside pool.  Everyone was in the outside pool.  We had a lovely evening at the Pitlochry Theatre starting with dinner and then a comedy play.  The lovely thing about this Theatre is you can take your half time drink and wander outside and down to the river.  Pitlochry town was packed and it's good to see so many tourists enjoying Scotland.
I also love to walk down the street and see lots of privately owned shops.  My husband bought a couple of really nice jackets from a tailor whose business was established in 1877.
As for the scenery in the area, it's so beautiful, In my opinion nothing can match it.   ;)

I was born five miles from Pitlochry so am a bit biased .. it is a beautiful area.
The dam is a lovely walk and if you are lucky there may be a salmon in the fish ladder.
The last time we were at the theatre, we were too late for the pre theatre meal so ate at the  restaurant opposite the theatre.  Lovely meal just wish we had arranged to be there earlier.
A couple of years ago the Pipe band competition was held at pitlochry in the recreation ground which is the other side of the river from the theatre.
As the area is surrounded by hills the REC is a natural ampitheatre.
The sound of thousands of pipers at the end of the competition playing at once is spine tingling and brings a tear to the eye.
My mother-in -law was up there last night as well and also enjoyed meal and play.

The meal was lovely, in fact people where coming in trying to get a meal but it was fully booked.  Love this theatre so relaxed and so much leg room.  Also like all the Art Gallery display they have.
This part of Scotland is a Gem.
Des there was a 25 reading in the car.
