Been watching the lira rate slowly creeping up, wondering if I should buy a few lira in the UK, just in case the rate starts to drop and we miss out when we arrive in Turkey early next week! 8)
Been checking regularly on
http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/holiday-money/#results
Suddenly, this morning, No1 Currency were offering lira at 2.995 to the pound. :D :o :)
I had a quick read through their small print, checked out the company (lots of bases nationwide) then ploughed in, placing my order for £1000 worth of lira! :D
Total cost of £1001.67 for 3000 lira!!! Unbelievable!! :P :-\ ;)[:o)]:D
My bank were happy to cough up, and so I received my order confirmation, free delivery by Royal Mail Special Delivery tomorrow. :)
However, within minutes of my order being placed, their rate changed - dramatically back down to 2.687 (still not a bad rate, but a lot lower than the rate I had just accepted)! [^]
2.995 lira to the pound is actually their buy rate! Someone there has messed up big-time! :(
The terms and conditions state:-
In the event that there are significant or material fluctuations in the exchange rates between us accepting your order and its despatch, we reserve the right to cancel your order without notice and liability to you.
So, do you reckon I'll get my 3000 lira tomorrow? No email from them as yet .............. :)

Well, I've had "the" email, telling me that my order has been cancelled:-
"An incorrect Turkish rate (2.99) was entered into our system today (Monday 25th July). All sterling will be refunded in full to customers who attempted to transact at this rate."
What a bunch of spoilsports! I knew it was too good to be true! Oh well, I tried! Just hope my money has gone straight back into the bank, or I'll have no money for next week! :(
Then the drinks will have to be on you, Mrs Pookie! :)

Damn ! water all round then ;):D

Annoyingly, the bank had released my money to this company, so I now have to wait for a refund. I have no turkish lira and no sterling! Hopefully, they refund me soon! :(
Oh well, it was worth a try, but sort of knew it would all go wrong ... I'm not that lucky! [^]

Bad luck Julie, I had my fingers crossed for you at the beginning of your thread, would have been great if it had been followed through, hope you get your refund soon :)
