Casa di Mama's lunchtime pizza deal was excellent value.
Any large pizza to share (eg spicy chicken) and 2 large beers or soft drinks--18 lira. It's the best pizza I've tasted for a long time.
I noticed that orders were taken by the waiters using an electronic notepad --bar order was being processed as rest of order was being taken.
Most evenings the restaurant was full and 20 minute waiting was usual.
The waiters are very quick to remove glasses from the table and I got the impression that the concept of "turning tables" to maximise profit was encouraged by the management. I didn't feel you could sit on without ordering anything further but I may have misinterpreted their intent.
I cannot fault the standard of food on offer and they have also installed a water-spray  system of fans to cool the customers.
I cannot recall ever seeing that number of waiters in a restaurant in Calis--service was precise and efficient.

Apologies
My comments were about Bella Mama's. My daughter assures me that Casa di Mama was further along the prom.
Hello to Welshbrickie--enjoyed meeting you in your lovely apartment. Hope everything works out for you in the future. Your advice was very helpful. Hello also to your wife and Brandy 'n' Coke (cats).

Much prefer Casa to Bella.  Lovely food, every bit as good as Bella's but the bonus is really friendly staff who always remember you and always have a conversation.  It was packed both nights we visited but could not fault the food.  Even though we don't eat the eternally mentioned food that all the Brits only seem to order in Calis "Steak".  I dare someone to give a big vote for food in a restaurant without it being steak which is the benchmark for eating in Calis and Fethiye/

Jacqui, As Bella and Casa are both ITALIAN restaurants in TURKEY, what is your criteria for judging them[?] Turkish Spaghetti Bolognese or what [?] ;)

If you don't like fish then "steak" in its many forms is often the preference and the quality of the meat and flavour of sauces a good measure of success for me.

We tried various casserole dishes (chopped steak?)  and Ottoman roll (rolled steak?) and lots of different kebab (chunks of steak?) dishes all cooked in a variety of different sauces with delicious flavours.  We even had chicken!!

I just can't see what the problem is - is it too british to enjoy good meat?
Is it so much more cosmopolitan to only eat local fish or have I missed other meat based dishes that I could try that are acceptably non-brit?

I'll bring this topic back to life as my family and I had several lovely meals here. We sampled the enchiladas and fajitas from the Mexican menu and a couple of the pasta dishes from the Italian meals. We had a couple of nights where we stayed to watch the Olympics and they weren't trying to clear our table around us like we experienced in some of the other restaurants this year. The staff were friendly and if you asked for something they would rush off to get it for you straight away.
The only thing that frustrated me was when you order one of the Mexican meals you're asked how spicy you want it. It would be quicker and a lot simpler if there was a scale (1,2,3 or Mild, Spicy, Very Spicy) to use rather than explaining in lots of words. The waiter said to my sister "You tell me how you want it and we'll do" after she'd told him she didn't want it spicy! Probably a breakdown in communication but my sis thought he was getting angry at her when he maybe didn't understand.

Dont usually write on restaurant reviews, but have to say, out of all of our meals out, the service here was the best.

we always go to Casa da mamas the food is excellent only negative thing this year was the drink my daughter and I always drink Vodka coke but this year the drinks they brought to us were disgusting my daughter drank hers but I couldnt drink it, thinking they may have used Turkish cola my daughter went to the bar and asked but it was proper coke so she asked if they had any other brand of vodka and the barman got a bit nasty with her so we paid up and left, I think maybe he got the wrong end of the stick as he didnt listen long enough for her to explain.

We had our last meal there on Sunday night.  The place was packed.  The staff always remember us and gave us a warm welcome.  The meal was lovely as usual, no complaints. We  find the standard of the food never varies it's always excellent.  However, I ordered an Amaretto Coffee at the end of the meal as they always used to do the best Amaretto Coffee, but it was not as good as it used to be, so taking into account the comment about the vodka, perhaps they have a new Barman.

La Casa Di Mamma

Best meal we had when we were over - absolutely delicious with polite, efficient service.

Highly recommended.
