After just returning from 3 wonderful weeks in my second home. I have some advise for large groups having a meal out together during the summer season. Split your group up to get better service.
I waited 2 hours for our meal in the Nil Bar,
2 hour wait at the Roka and they forgot 3 meals when they did come.
the worst was Serku 2, 2 and half hours for our meal (Group of 8-10 people) The only one who could cope was bella mamma what a lovely restuarant everytime all the time.
This is not a dig at any of the above as i would dine there again but in a smaller party.

hi we ate at the meeting point, when there was a group of 8
and had all our meals and the food was hot
try there next time

Useful info, but theres little point in eating out with friends/family if you have to split up. I'd only frequent the places they could cope. 8-10 is not exactly unusual or particularly large.

Split up the people I am on holiday with into two groups going to two separate restaurants because they can't cope?? Don't think so mate!
-
I cant actually believe you waited all that time for a meal. Why wait 2 and a half hours instead of just saying bye and finding somewhere else for a meal.
I agree with hillside. 8-10 is not that unusual a size of a group for a resturant. These days many people go on holiday in groups as they can get cheaper deals. As for splitting up the group I find that quite ridiculous.

If you want to eat out in a big group why not pre plan and book a table in advance - it helps the restaurant plan ahead too...

I often eat out in a big group but would never just turn up on the night. I always reserve a table the day before or earlier in the day and let them know how many are coming. I have had excellent service in a big group at Anna Bar, Serkul 2, Mozaik Bahce, Okyanus, Meeting Point and many other places in Calis :-)

Trust me Nichola Nil bar was booked in April for the twins birthday which we have there every year for the past 3 years. Enough notice one thinks. Angel said a large group came in at the same time as us which caused a problem in the kitchen. I did think of walking and threaten to do so but I do know the owners of each of these restaurants and they tried to calm me down. All the other restaurants were booked the day before trust me im no novice to the way it works.

Could be you know the owners too well - could be a case of 'family holds back' Its happened to us when our custom has been taken for granted and the staff are trying to impress newbies!
-
Yes that is definitely a possibility hillside. I remember a Birthday party we had one October for the twins in a restaurant where all they had to do was serve up something like 16 little plates of chicken nuggets and chips for children aged between 2 and 8. It took two hours to come, some parents had already taken their kids home as it was school the next morning - and guess what - every single person who arrived after us was served before.
Familiarity definitely breeds contempt, even if you are buying around 20 meals + all the drinks.

I'm afraid that may apply to other sectors as well as food:(

Agreed Scunner and Hillside
We had this service at a hotle we used for five years. The rooms got worse so we walked.
Went back in May after it was refurbished and as we were first to book we got the biggest deluxe room.
So familiarity can work both ways 8):D ;)
Manager actually admitted that he was embarassed and struggled to suss out what room was best for putting folk in before he did the place up.
