Title: Good hairdresser
Post by: mercury on August 14, 2011, 09:45:30 AM
I have just had my hair cut by Soner in Fethiye and it is the best cut that I have had for years. Here and in the U.K. He was recommended by a friend who also has a great cut.She once went into another place after her cut just for a quick wash a blow dry and he knew who had cut her hair by the quality of the cut. He speaks very good English and charge for cut wash and blow dry was 15TL. Not a big posh place but the only man I have known in Fethiye that can actually cut very straight hair into a smooth bob.

Where is he?  What's the name of the hairdressers?  Does anyone know if he is good at colour?

He does a very good job but some people prefer a smarter establishment. lol. Like Julie says at the back of the PTT. Soner is written on the window but that is the only sign he has so it isnt obvious unless you walk up to it.

A friend and I went to Izmir yesterday and were well pleased with the result. We also had probably one of the most cringe worthy experiences courtesy of a fellow Englishwoman we have ever had the misfortune to witness.

As we arrived the owner and his assistant were busily blow-drying and finishing the hair of the lady in question. As he was putting the finishing touches (and wax) to her hair she started muttering about how nice it was but how she wasn't paying!!!??? She then said she had her hair done there the week before by someone else who had put "some product" on her hair. She had liked it a lot and had only gone in to buy some. She didn't want her hair done! Doh! Excuse me I didn't think hairdressers hypnotised their victims or dragged them kicking and screaming to the basin for a shampoo and then back to the mirror where they sat submissively whilst they have a blow-dry!
It got more and more bizarre by the minute as a French customer who was there with her Turkish husband translated from English into French which her husband then converted to Turkish.
Not only could the woman not name the mystery product, she could not describe it and having been given the chance to poke her fingers into all the salon had to offer she reiterated her refusal to pay for something she hadn't wanted and managed to leave the salon with a pot of some product as a gift together with a freebie hairdo.
They staff were very philosophical about it all and seemed to take it in their stride. We on the other hand felt mortified on their behalf.

I have had a similar experience. I was having my hair done last year in AS&C when in strode an English woman demanding the manager! When the guys looked at her obviously assessing her hostile attitude she screamed "The boss not you". Eventually they said "boss on holiday". Her reply "Well i'll be going somewhere else then" I was highly embarassed and could not beleive that someone that was a guest in somebody elses country could be so arrogant and treat people as though they were servants. I certaintly got the impression this was an ex pat and it definately made me wonder what on earth they must think of the British people.

I have used Soner for almost 5yrs now. My friend has her hair coloured there and is very happy with the results. His wife works there also doing manicures, pedicures and facials. One of the best pedicures I have had. They have 2 little girls, One is at school now but they are often to be seen in the hairdressers with them. Yes not the most glamourous salon in Fethiye but large and spacious and reasonable prices
