Title: Sept PriceComparison
Post by: kenkay on August 17, 2011, 00:39:24 AM
Just put our Sept 2011 dates in the new comparison thingy at the bottom and it quoted me our exact Easy Jet flights for 250 quid more than we paid  8) and we thought we'd panic bought. In truth there was nothing nearly as low as we paid  8) which was £540 compared to £275 for the Aegean flights that we lost [:(!]

That's why we've not booked yet Ken.
We're still looking at around £700 for our flights from Glasgow and there is no way I'm paying that.  So, we live in hope they'll drop a bit once the school holidays are over.

We have been lucky with getting flights out one way cheap just over £50 each (yep I am a tightwad), but having looked at the return cost it may be cheaper for us to get a residency again either that or start walking!

I always liked to book ahead to be sure of flights to suit my preferred holiday dates and as a result I am now trying to recover money from my credit card firm for 2011 & 2012 flights. I managed to get replacement flights for this September (at almost double the cost of the lost flights).I will wait until much closer to my 2012 dates before looking for flights. Much as I love Calis I do not intend paying inflated prices for flight alone when for a few extra pounds I could have a package. It probably would not be to Calis which I would really regret.

I've already booked all 2012 flights with Monarch who are starting MCR-DAL ZB (scheduled) flights next year. For Sue and I in May and August and myself in July I got the lot for just below £900. Our daughter works for Monarch and gets 20% discount on ZB flights for immediate family whilst she only gets 5% on MON (charter) flights. The same flights had cost me £730 with Aegean.

Cheap flights from Scottish airports were always rare and Aegean/Onur Air were a big help. Hopefully some business or airline will fill the gap for future years. There is certainly nothing available at the moment which I would consider even a reasonable price.

I agree,us Scottish members of CBF will miss Aegean. No flights to Dalaman now
from Prestwick ,and those from Glasgow etc much more expensive.Come on Ryanair,
step in and fill the gap...
