Title: Car Insurance in the U.K
Post by: heatherhanum on August 19, 2011, 18:34:44 PM
Please can anyone suggest a reasonable car insurance company. My Insurance is due in September and they want £390.00 and I think this is ridiculous for Ford Focus. [:(!]
Thank you x

it really depends on what cover you are looking for, if it's Fully Comp. then that sounds reasonable to me, it also depends on your driving history, your postcode, the age condition, engine size and performance of your car.

Have a look at Go Compare, there may be something better there

Me and my hubby have many years no claims and our car is in the garage. My god I think that price is really too much

UK insurance premiums have risen dramatically in the last few months. That quote doesn't seem too bad to me.

Sign up at Quidco - www.quidco.com - they offer cash back on insurance (and many other things we all buy too) and have a comparison quote system which once you have put in your details will give you a whole list of quotes (like Go compare etc) but also shows which one is the cheapest after taking off the Quidco cashback - I posted on here that the RAC quote they came up with was cheaper than my renewal with my current insurer, then buying it through Quidco knocked off another £75 - I ended up at about £120 all told. Yours may be more than that if your Focus is quite new (ours was for Mrs Scunner's battered old VW Polo  :) ) but I would bet that you'll beat your £390 quote. So well worth trying. Let us know how you go!

Before accepting lower quotes be sure to check the quotes compare with the original cover that was quoted, you may well pay for the difference in the long run with any claims you make.

I have always been happy with Liverpool Victoria (LV), not expensive and easy to deal with. :D

Insurance for my Toyota Corolla 1.6L, with two named drivers, and 4000 miles per annum usage, is £413. So I agree with those who have said that your quote is at the going rate for this year. (I would have 47 years no claims - if they counted back that far!).

Heard on the news a couple of days ago - young girl, just passed her driving test, lives in Bradford - her quote for an old banger was £56000 p.a :o.  Apparently Bradford has the highest claims for personal injury, driving without insurance etc.  A traffic police officer, 22 years experience, was quoted £21000
