O.K. Where to get an outfit suitable for a Wedding in a hot country.
If you have been to a Wedding in Turkey and have found a good website or shop for a lightweight Mother of the Groom outfit, please share your knowledge with me. I have a year to look but want to gather all the information I can.
All the traditional shops over in the U.K. seem to sell very heavy looking outfits. I see myself in something floaty and cool (no jokes please gentlemen). :)

Only ever seen the bride and groom dressed up at all the ones we have been to.
-
Sorry, but you are talking to someone who co-ordinates her outfit to go the the supermarket, there is no way I am wearing shorts and a tee shirt to my only son's Wedding.
This post is obviously from a man!!

Is the wedding to be indoor with aircon or outdoor [?] My daughter got married on the beach in the early evening sun and all the female guests managed to get their attire in the UK. Mind you I don't think we had any snobs there ;)

We think it's going to be on the beach probably early evening.
Incidentally, did you know that people who believe there are snobs only do so because they suffer from an inferiority complex:D ;)
Strange this mail is addressed to ladies and yet I get two replies from men :o

Jacqui my sister's wedding in Calis last year was in August- a year ago next week in fact and it must have been close on 40 degrees at 6pm when the ceremony started! Apart from the bride and us bridesmaids all the ladies ( and bear in mind we had 80 guests) seemed to opt for a variety of floaty summer numbers including the grooms mother who was a vision in purple and jade chiffon with matching hat!. Everyone dressed for the occasion including the lads. I think most got their ensembles the minute the summer stock appeared in the shops.

Maria, you all looked lovely. Glad to see that dressing up for Weddings is still alive and well in Turkey. Is that you in the black? Very glamourous!!
-
You will also need a carriage and a high horse, sorry just a carriage:D
-
Jackie, Carole got her outfit from Ramadan in Fethiye for our sons wedding in Calis, she said they have a good choice and all the accesories

Thanks Mark will take a look..
Tinx, I was just out giving the horse, Hugo, a carrot, he is quite high, how did you know[?] However, he is a thoroughbred so no common carriage pulling for him ;):D

What about a trip to Antalya if you are buying your outfit in Turkey. There are some good clothes and shoe shops there.

Hi Jackie - I find often in Turkey the fabric isn't suitable for high temperatures. I would suggeest you shop for the fabric you want in the UK, find a design you like or draw your own and take it Sevgi the tailoress opposite the Meri Bar - she is very good and very reasonably priced. She can copy things and has made me things from drawings I have done. by reasonable I'm talking 20 lira if you supply the fabric for a top, skirt or trousers. It only takes her a few days and her English is ok. That way you will have exactly what you want. You cna choose shoes, bag and a hat in the UK to match the fabric :-)

Jacqui, if you are wearing a hat make sure it is extra secure, mine was very light but although clipped it never stayed in the intended position, so allow for the wind. ;)
-
Thanks Lynne, this is a great idea, for £7.00 thats a wonderful bargain.... and you know how I love a bargain.
Laffa...Thanks for the advice, I will allow for the wind... I write that with a straight face!!

Jacqui this is the one on the way to the aqua park - if you have your back to the sea and turn right at what used to be the Dophin roundabout but is now lots of traffic lights it is on the end of the first block - there are usually dresses hung outside and she is downstairs. She's made me various tops - some copied from originals I had and some I designed myself and she's also done me a couple of skirts and a pair of trousers. I take all my alterations to her and am very happy with everything she has done for me.
