you will more than likely find that the amount of tax you will have to pay on the tv will be more than its worth to you. you can get one here from 600tl.

Hi Patch
On our last visit we were going to bring over a TV but when we checked out the cost and the chances of having to pay duty we decided against it and bought one in Turkey.
The additional cost of purchase out weighted the balance of the worry.
There are plenty of places in Fethiye you can buy an LCD 32" TV.You
can buy one for approx £300 in Kippa(tesco's)
good luck  :)

Also it can be real hassle if you arrive during the night, you may find you have to return to Dalaman the following day to pay the duty & collect your TV

My Newphew was stopped and the TV confiscated. He then picked it up on the return journey, and this happened 3 times,so now he has bought over here.I have been told they do look out for packages that could have TV,s in them and stop those people.

Dalaman customs look for obvious items being brought in, eg large boxes.

Will it fit inside a suitcase? A few people have taken them this way.

I've no idea how much the tax is, but it's supposed to be high.

I will find out I think it was that the duty was to much.As for the excess baggage if you look on easyjet,s site they will say what the excess is per kilo.

Tax which is called bandrola tax is based on the size of your screen and not the value. You looking at a maximum of 150 Euro or less.

Since when has this started? I have paid once for my plasma back in 2002 and not anymore since. Not sure where you get this info from. Bandrola tax is a one off payment. If customs catch you bringing in the TV then you have to pay it or leave it behind. There is no annual payment afterwards. Never has been.

You pay it once - it depends on the size of the screen - about 150 euros I think for 32 inches :-)
