This might be a bit of a long shot, but I am renovating a house in blighty. Am looking for some floor tiles (large)a light sand stone colour and quite a few. We are on holiday in Calis again the end of September, any pointers of suppliers around Fethiye would be appreicated. ;)
Looking around Turkey there are solar panels everywhere, so one would assume that they are not as highly over priced as those in the UK. Again any pointers of suppliers, I would be very grateful.
Apart from that I intend to relax to the maximum and enjoying the delights of Calis and the lovely people.
Thanks Mickysparks

I was told that the solar panels they use in Turkey are not suitable for the UK - I am unsure as to why, but it must be the fact that we only get 3 days of sun a year.

Hmmm, doubt that, competition springs to mind. Thanks anyway.

Might cost a bit to ship back tiles from here.
I bought a large job lot to do a few rooms here and i paid about 6-7TL per box at the time. Later in UK when i was in B&Q having a look around i came across the exact same tiles priced at 13 quid a box.

What do you mean 'competition'? The person who told me is a Turkish heating engineer who would love to ship them to the UK in bulk to sell. Sorry my reply was so easy for you to dismiss.

Fair assumption - but don't forget the real reason is that they have much more sun. If you want solar panels for heating water in the UK they will have to be much better than the ones needed in Turkey.

He doubts that Stoop :D

So - let's be practical. Most solar heating in Turkey that I've seen involves a couple of panels. That's because it's bloody hot and sunny. Take them to the UK and they wouldn't even warm your water for washing up!
Then you have the cost of shipping!
mmmmm - I doubt it as well ;)

I lived there for 5 years and can report that on a grey day, no hot water!

I really think the panels used in the UK are much higher producing ones - they have to be surely?
I know the pv panels for producing electricity are getting better and better and I know the couple who bought our last house had the water heating ones fitted front and back. However they were not sure it was a good move as it cost them so much to have them fitted and they said they would be dead before they got their money back!

The panels in the UK are evacuated tubes and are indeed much more efficient than the ones used in Turkey, you would run into overheat problems if you used this type out there, even though the product itself is produced in Turkey and Germany.

I have an idea that Micky might think that the panels here are for electricity.

Sorry Scunner, didn't mean to cause offence, certainly didn't mean to be rude.
I was working on the assumption that if there is a big market for a product, which it is there, maybe the price would be lower. What Stoop said about the couple who would be dead before they had a chance to reap the benefits, reflects the high costs companies are charging.
I can see the point now, about a different kind of panel for each country usage.
Thanks for your replies, sorry again to cause offence.

The company that fitted mine even use different ones depending on which way your house faces. The further off line south the higher producing panels they install.
