Hi Everyone,
New to the site and Calis, but have booked our first holiday for Sept 2012 after my sisters strong recommendation. My friend has decided whilst we are there they would like to try and get married and I wondered if anyone could recommend a company that can organise it for them. It will only be a small affair (9 people) and because we've organise our own accomodation, the big travel companies wont let them have just a ceremony package.
Thanks in advance and also for the other useful info I've been reading from you all on here

There are certain formalities you have to go through before you can get married in Turkey. One of them is the requirement of a Certificate of Non Impediment for UK Nationals. This can take about 3 weeks to obtain. Birth certificates and all other documents must be translated into Turkish. There are a few internet sites which will tell you exactly is required. Good luck. :)

Judy - we organised our own in 2008 - we got the registrar to marry us at 11am on a small boat which we hired (£120) in the middle of the bay - took him back to shore and then as the boat was hired for the day with lunch - we went out again for the day on the boat with 2 friends - it was lovely (and cost effective!!!!)
The boat is moored in the harbour all the time - the owners own 2 one called Sunkissed and the other small one next to it is the one we got married on but there are many others who would do this for you.
However there is a lot of documentation to do so you would be wise to hire someone to do it for you if you are short of time.
We went over in March to get documentation approved in Antalya at the British Consul so it is not that straight forward. You also have to have a medical (although that was really 2 minutes in front of a doctor - who then signed a form for us!)

Our daughter got married in June of this year at Sugar Beach Club in Olu Deniz. If you google them you'll get their website which gives all of their wedding details. Also if you do a search on here you'll find loads of info 8)

Reading these a lot of good sense!
Marriage is about you and your Partner really, and immediate family and close friends, not everyone who can be thought of to turn up at a horrendous cost! I hate big expensive weddings as I think they such a waste of Money.
Such a great idea doing it in turkey, (no rude comments please)
different, a lot of memories later, and spend the money elsewhere!
My first Marriage was a huge affair, Massive Church, Choir, Bells, best Hotel in Town, ----- not my choice --- began to wonder if it was really all for Mother in Law :)
Second time, small, close, nice, still Happy together heading well past 20 years now!

To have the marriage officially done you must get a certificate of non impediment from the consulate. They only issue this if you have been in the country for at least 21 days and your bands would have to remain on the notice board for another 21 days for which you can get from the consulate on the 22nd day.
This document needs to be stamped by the valilik (governors office) and then you can take this along with a medical report to the registry office where you can book an appointment for an official to do the ceremony.
I got married last month in Istanbul so very familiar with the legal process.

You can get your certificate of non-impediment in the UK before you travel. You only then need to visit the consulate in Antalya to complete the rest of the paperwork. I sent you an email yesterday as I also recoomend Izela/Gunay's Garden in Kayakoy. The weddings here are the most romantic I've seen in Turkey and really have that personal touch.

Thanks for all the info. They've read up about getting certificate of non-impediment over here first an all the legal side of things, it's really a case of finding someone over there who can help with the organising. I've got a few idea from this site and you guys so hopefully we're heading in the right direction. Ian you photos look fab and you both look like you had a ball, Donna I've got your email thanks, my friend is coming over tonight so she can see what we've come up with. Roll On Sep 2012!!!!!!!!!!

Our Joanne and Paul got their Certificate of None Impediment from the local registrar in the UK. The wedding planner at Sugar Beach then arranged the Antalya trip and other formalities in Fethiye.

Some may be interested to know that Harun at Surf Cafe told me today that they are having their first ever wedding tomorrow. In this instance it is just the wedding feast but he is planning to introduce the full sevice and reception package 8)

My wife and I did this in July.
We had help in Turkey from our Friend Ali Bozkurt.
We got the certififcate of no impediment from our local registry office in the UK. Do not do this more than a few months before your planned wedding date as if it's old I don't think they will accept it.
Then when you get to Turkey you need to get to the consulate in Antalya ASAP. I think it takes around three hours or so to drive there and it's quite hidden away. Once there you get the forms translated. Then you head over to the Governers office (I think that's what it was) which is also in Antalya and get some bits stamped...I'm not quite sure here as Ali took the forms away to be done whilst we waited.
Then it was back to Fethiye to see the Registrar. He asked us what date/time etc.
Then we went to the mdeical center not far away for a 'medical' which consisted of 'Are you sick?' 'No'; done!
Then we dropped the medical form back at the registrar's office.
Done; that was a long day and without Ali we wouldn't have managed it. He drove us everywhere and translated. Think we left Calis at 7am and got back home around 5pm.

I organise weddings here for Anatolian Sky. www.anatoliansky.co.uk
Can do small and large weddings, whatever you want! Packages and tailor mades available and can offer just wedding ceremony and reception. I have been doing this for a number of years and have used several locations, most popular by far is the lagoon. I would personally accompany you to Antalya and through all the process, legal and visiting florist, hairdresser etc. Whatever you require.

Thanks everyone, I've passed all the details over and they have opted for Carole & Tayfan (hotels etc felt a bit ott for 9 people). So the big day is 17th September 2012, yeayyyyyy!!! Just a quiet affair and they are spending their wedding night at Ece Saray Marina and Resort.
Thanks for all your help and advice. x
