Post by: Jacqui Harvey on October 19, 2011, 08:43:14 AM
M.&.S. will deliver a Christmas Hamper for £45.00. Today only,(19th October) they are offering it for £29.00.  It contains champagne, chocolates, Christmas cake, biscuits, preseves etc.,  We sent one to a friend who lives alone last year and she was delighted with it.
We have ordered another one for her this morning. When ordered they will deliver in December.
Go on-line to M.&.S. website and click into "Offers" on the top right hand side.:D ;)

O.K. only the French Stuff can be called Champagne and I did not say it was a full bottle (full bottle of Champagne in a hamper for £29!! :o that would be a bargain) but I can tell you our friend Betty in Glasgow who lost her husband of 50 years was delighted with the hamper last year, and as she does not drink a lot she used the bottle of what she called "Champagne" for some of her friends in the sheltered housing she lives in.[:X]
It's an easy way to send a nice gift (post free) anywhere in the U.K. particularly for someone living alone and the pleasure it gives far outweighs whether it's real champagne or not. ;)
Incidentally, as someone in the know about postage, to send this lot, personally, first buy a strong box, then the packing materials, then pay the postage. Special Delivery £22.00 which is the only way to send anything breakable insured.  So, not such a bad Christmas Gift without the hassle of sending it yourself.:P

Also add promo code 15OFFMNS at checkout for 15% more off the price. Expires tomorrow (the code).

Still expensive though I'd say  :)

this is not something you would buy and give to someone. It's something you send to someone. If you are posting anything like this the postage is really expensive.  So factor in the free postage and I don't think this is a once a year expensive gift.
It's a nice present for a pensioner for a little Christmas cheer. As it's always difficult to know what to get for someone who is in their late seventies.
