I was rather hoping others would follow suit and post pictures of people they would like to remember on the 11th.

Somewhere I have a photo of my father leading his men, and giving the salute, in the march-past down the main road of St Heliars in celebration of the liberation of Jersey. But it is somewhere in the loft.
My father never spoke about the war (apart from telling me a rather good humourous story of his early days of service in the UK before being sent to the serious fighting). It was over 40 years after his death that my mother told me that he was the first officer ashore on at the beachhead during the liberation of Jersey. We know now that the Germans quickly surrendered and gave up the island. But the troops didn't know that then. I've thought about that today and I'll think about it again on the 11th.
Now I'm going up in the loft. I may be some time.

My father was in the Sherwood Forresters(now disbanded) and my Mum was in the ATS, I shall be remembering them this weekend. If I can work out how to scan a photo in, I will. Would also like to say how proud I am of my daughter who has been in the army for 16 years and her hubby who is in the para's.
