Now I find this very curious and would welcome some help. Our property was empty for the whole of this year (courtesy of Aegean) with the exception of two weeks. We had no electricity charges from the beginning of the year, the first one being 7 July for 54.80TL which would cover the two weeks it was in use. Since then, we have had consecutive bills for 21TL, 28.10TL and 29.70TL. How on earth can this happen if the property is empty??? Has this ever happened to anyone else and would anyone have any clues at all??? I am assuming it should be a zero bill if the property is empty with no standing charges but if I am wrong, please let me know. We were there in October so we are waiting to see that bill yet but whilst there, I spotted a neighbour's bill loitering around by the meter which was for 7TL.
I have absolutely no idea at all what is going on and would appreciate any help members could give me.

hi do you switch off your electricity by the mains when you leave.
-
We do usually but I can make no guarantees about when it was used for the two weeks. But nothing is plugged in or used so surely it would make no difference?

May seem a stupid question, have you checked that the meter IS yours and attached to your property?
-
Do you have an immersion heater that has been switched on by accident? If so it may still be on!

It is possible that if you have an electric socket on your balcony someone may have been using that for a power suppy. The best thing to do if that is the case is to turn off ALL the fuses inside your property before you leave, as well as at the mains (usually in a box outside the front door). If you only turn the outside mains off anyone could switch it back on. If you do turn all your fuses off inside and still get a bill, then someone must have been inside your property to turn things back on.

Great idea Leeglo!

Have definitely checked and definitely our bill. As for the immersion heater, we used to have one, then we changed our solar system and I thought it was disconnected. I'm wondering now if it still connected! No balcony plugs - not that posh I'm afraid! I will arrange for all our switches to be switched off and see from there. Thank you all!

Lynne, the payment went out on 7th July but the meters on Lemon were read on 27th June. I'm pretty sure your peeps had already left by then, but if they had left the immersion switched on or the fridge plugged in, & it wasn't picked up by your property managers until much later, that may be your answer. I've certainly not noticed anyone in your apartment August / September!
BTW The 7tl bill was likely for the staircase lighting.

They had left Liz so that bill would account for that. I will get All Aspects to switch all our switches off.
Thank you!
