The Turkish Lira's value against the dollar fell 1 percent in one day following a downgrade on the country's outlook by Fitch Ratings. The bourse closed the day with a 1.7 percent loss. The shift in outlook reflects an increase in near-term risks to stability as Turkey should reduce its current-account gap and inflation rate, Fitch says.

The TL has gone over 2.9/£ three times over that last few months but has twice regained strength and sunk lower. So, this time will it break the "magic" 3TL/£ barrier for the first time in the last five years or so?
Ladies and Gentlemen, place your bets now. The wheel is about to spin.

If the TL falls against the USD, it's a pretty sure bet that it'll fall against the £ too.
It's 2.94 to the £ today.
Is that clearer for you ? :D

Or, an American company (started in New York) said some bad things about the Turkish economy and because they did the dollar now buys more lira than before they slagged it off. Nice work if you can get it.

According to the Coinmill exchange rate at the bottom of the page the £ hit 3TL today.
(However, this is not reflected in the BBC's figures which show it topping out at 2.976 yesterday before going back down to 2.946 currently).
