Well, sorry to put a damper on this review but I went last week for the same set menu which got off to a bad start as the Lentil Soup was served barely warm - couldn't it eat!  Enjoyed the rest of the meal but, unless they are planning to change the menu, won't visit again.

I tried the Eyna tonight & concur with Mark (even though he beat me at darts!), the food was fab. All served piping hot, plenty of it & I tried the chicken curry as my main course, not authentic Indian of course but a very good curry none the less, would recommend & defo go back another time.

My friend says the garlic mushrooms are delicious. Bit harsh not to go back because the soup wasnt hot but the rest of it was good.

Just cant believe a restaurant would be so desperate for customers to do this menu for this price, its not possible to make a profit on that

He has to be losing money, I hope everyone who goes also stays for a drink or two!!

Eyna has been a good (and friendly) restaurant for quite a long time but has never had anything like the volume of mentions that many other seafront restaurants do on here for whatever reason. If the key to better success is getting people in and showing them what you can do, this is a good way. "Desperate" is certainly not the word I thought of.

How is this so very different from the Sunday lunch at Kings Garden, 15tl & they offer free transport to / from the restaurant?

Tried their winter menu twice now and have to say the food was superb and great value for money   :) :)

I also had 3 beers, only 4tl each, total bill of 26tl, even better vfm than I expected!

I don't get the "desperate" vibe at all. The owners are lovely folk & I believe them to be very genuine with their winter offer which is simply to attract people into the establishment rather than stay open & empty.

They have a dart/pool team playing on Monday nights & the 3c's shop underneath so can't just close up for the winter & the old saying of "owts better than nowt" fits very well.

PS: As I've said before on here, 1 of the best places for decent coffee on the front too.

Maybe they can afford to do it at this price because their food is homemade and not out of a freezer like a lot of places on the front. They are a lovely couple and Naylan's homemade cake is delicious. She sells lots of it and Mark is correct their coffee is one of the best on the front. :D

Maybe desperate wasnt the word I meant!

I just dont understand how restaurant owners can remain open with all the costs involved and put a menu on like this at that price and still make money, my comment was meant to convey that I hope when his customers take advantage of the deal that they also spend a bit on a few drinks to bump the bill up for him, I know the man too and agree hes very nice and deserves to do well

Does any one know if the 14tl set menu is available during the day or if it is just in the evening.

Just been to The Eyna to load the cars up for car boot and there were 20 ladies in there having this meal for their Xmas party. They all said it was hot tasty and delicious. We sat on the sea front and had just a selection of starters. Lentil soup, the garlic mushrooms and cheese rolls and the garlic bread while we waited for the ladies to finnish eating their meal. They were very nice.

I was one of the ladies yesterday, having xmas lunch ,well what a meal,i thought it was a choice lentil soup with garlic bread, or garlic mushrooms and cheese rolls, not both, when it came to main course i was stuffed could not eat it all and definitely could not eat the sweet....and the coffee which is also included ,i dont know how they can do all that for the price..the service was great the meal was very hot, i cannot fault it at all ,will definitely be going there again.

The only thing i find in there very bad service ,i dont know who the owner is there was one tall guy and a short guy doing the tables ,if the owner is the tall guy he was playing darts by himself ,the waiter serving a table of 12 people 3 other tables waiting for drinks and menus ,also not the ideal place if you are a none smoker the restaurant was not realy open only outside in plastic tent as soon as it rains or windy its all closed up but all the regulars just carry on smoking ,how you haven't mentioned that mark when you are so against smoking i dont know why,it was a couple of weeks ago  you had to go home and wash all your clothes because they stunk of smoke you  have to tell these people ,cant be Mr nice guy all the time mate ,it doesn't matter to the people who run these places but it will stop others having to put up with it ,but i do agree that the eyna do the best coffee we have had in the area .

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your time Lance, especially as I recommended it to you!

The owner is the tall guy whose name escapes me Lance. I've never had bad service there nor have I been inside the "tent" with people smoking, you know me well enough by now, if I had been upset by anyone I would soon say!

The coffee is excellent as is the food & at 14tl for a 4 course meal I defy anyone to get close to that value for money but as Lance rightly points out, it's obvious they don't always get it right!

Supacabby I don't think there is a place in Calis/Fethiye that Lance hasn't tried over the years and given his views on.  He does sometimes do recommendations and also provides his negative findings as his latest posts on this thread.
Smoking is a VERY emotive subject and he gave his experience of his visit on Friday.
As Abraham Lincoln said "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

Cheers: I fully understood Lances post (as he said: I'm also a non smoker & dislike smoking in close proximity, especially when eating) & apologised as he went there on my recommendation. I also said I hadn't been subjected to any smoking in the "tent". Sorry to say I really don't understand your post, I'm probably missing something glaringly obvious (it is nearly 1am!), what was your point?

Post by: sunnyd on December 19, 2011, 08:01:30 AM
Nobody should be smoking indoors as it is banned. Those that want to smoke have to go outside. The owner should be the one to enforce this, and there should also be a sign up somewhere. If caught the restaurant owner is fined aswell as the individual.

The thing is it's very awkward at the eyna because the tent like enclosure is technically the out  side area where people smoke ,i have smoked for 53 years the last 10 years 30 a day ,so i knew where and where not to smoke ,and so do these people they could wait until people Finnish there food ,but as i say eyna not good example for restaurant having no ground level restaurant, handicapped or disabled would have to eat outside i will shut up now,and mark it is nothing to do with you recommending it you said about coffee and it is the best . ;)

if the area is enclosed, you cannot smoke there, doesn't matter if it's normally the outside area.

Thanks Nikkie, that's really helpful to know, I was unsure what the rules were when places close up with the plastic tents for winter.

Just had a meal at Eyna after hearing so many good reports from friends. Three very hungry adults and guess what...we couldn't even manage the pancakes for dessert. Incredibly good value and all the food was beautifully cooked and piping hot ..... except for the salad of course. The portions are big and very tasty so don't eat too much garlic bread with your soup or you won't have room for all the rest. Take my hat off to them for serving such superb food for so little cost .Still at 14 lira which includes a free tea of coffee to finish. Well worth a visit if you haven't tried it yet.

Only part of Dennis the Menace is Bambu. They'll be getting a complex about everyone saying they're not there anymore!

Ate here tonight food ok but hospitality poor, we were asked to move to make way for a large party as we were sat at the front of the prom.the party turned out to be only 8 and we were moved to a table next to another free one. It was clear he knew these peoPle and we were ignored the rest of the evening.we won't go back!

I asked Rushie if he would mind putting fresh water each day in a bowl I gave him for the street cats and dogs.
He said he wouldn't have time.
Most of the time when I see him in the daytime he's sitting down doing nothing.
I was very disappointed with his attitude.

We went to Eyna tonight and although there was one party of eight and another of nine the service and food were impeccable. Maybe they treat you like you treat them!!!
As for Rushie saying he's too busy to water street cats and dogs, that's his choice and nothing to do with Eyna

Clearly we were in the same evening as I remember the party of nine complaining about the time it took to receive their food. I can safely say that it's not how you treat them it's if you know them!!. Not a way to encourage future business and also an inappropriate dig at fellow users of the site who are always courteous and polite wherever they choose to eat!!!.
